Ok so within last 3-4 years have had both my mountain bikes stolen off the back bit of the house even tho they was chained to a eyebolt in contrete with good chains. Was thinking of setting up a wireless alarm with a sensor aimed at the bike so it would go off at night if any one went near it can anyone think of any other stuff to stop them stealing them :s

Put two big hooks on your wall & take the bike indoors & hang it up.

Ground anchors, or keep in house.

Were they nice bikes? With how easy they are to get rid of (Break down a bike in less than an hour), they know you won't replace a good bike with a POS so will come back a month or so later.

First of all your chains weren't good if you had your bike stolen twice. Second, if putting your bike indoors is such a bind, perhaps you should take the bus. Seriously, how difficult would it be to pick up your bike and walk out the door with it? It wont be anymore involved than unchaining it every day.

A sensor is no good as a determined thief wont be put off by it. That's assuming it doesn't go off every night due to the neighbours cat coming in for it's evening widdle on your bike. It will only take a few false alarms for you to turn it off. You could try a floodlight, but again, it wont put off a determined ***** - they'll just be able to see what they're doing.

If you use your bike a lot and you have spent a decent amount of money on it, put it indoors. Otherwise you are just throwing your money away.

Only paid like £300 on last one so not paid a stupid ammount for one and use it everyday for going to work.If i was to take it inside everynight would mean putting it inside the kitchen as thats how you get into the house and i am not the first one up meaning its in the way for my mom/step dad. BUT if i do get another one i proberly will take it inside

Not everyone has room to keep a full size bike in their house, or the option to if the house isn't theirs.
