**HTC HD2 Thread**

Has anyone else experienced any issues with battery drain? And I mean severe drain.

Most of the time my phone's battery is great, usually lasting up to 48 hours with light/medium use, but on occasion it seems to 'purge'. It happened last night and has done it about 3 times in the past fortnight. Take last night as an example. I unplugged my phone from the charger at about 10pm on about 90%. By the morning it was totally dead (0%). I heard it shutdown during the night - not sure of the exact time but must've been about 6am. No programs running and usual settings (weather every 3 hours, email every hour).

Anyone have any ideas why it's doing this? Considering I use my phone as my alarm and it doesn't sound when the phone's off this is extremely annoying!
what i found was that if i put my phone in my pocket screen facing inwards (even in a leather pouch) then my battery will be lucky to last 5 hours or so. Put the phone screen facing outwards in my pocket and i can easily get 2 days or more...

Moral of the story is the phone has a SERIOUS design flaw whereby the buttons stick out rather than set inwards like that on the iphone and so when its in your pocket your forever catching the buttons which turns the screen on waiting for you to unlock and that drains the battery :(

This phone is really ******* me off now. For some reason it wont connect to my Wireless router, even though it was connecting fine 2 days ago.

I regret getting rid of my iPhone for it.

Dude are you on a standard rom, and/if so is it up to date or are you on a custom rom?

Only reason i ask is that the phone as it comes out of the box is quite simply 'horrible' (dependant on what rom it comes with).
Only other thing to say is that my camera quality is quite good tbh, far from the best but certainly not horrible and i havent had any issues regarding connecting to wifi 'yet' (touch wood).

Failing trying different roms and reinstalling to the latest software update all i could say is that your phones hardware is borked :S

I did a hard reset and got the WiFi back working again. I haven't even touched ROMs yet. What's the best one to use?

Cheers

I'm running Dutty's M-Lang Ultimate V2.6 WWE, and it's GREAT! :D

Any chance you could send me a link please?

I've installed a few apps to the HD2 already, but they were only using CAB files.

Do ROMS work the same way? Are they easy to install?

Cheers

Look at the stickies on the linked page ;)

I'm using a WM 6.5.x ROM , the menus etc are much more finger friendly

I'm still avoiding them, I don't like the start menu being moved to the bottom left, I prefer symmetry between my 2 soft options.

Meh.. my work phone's an iphone and it just feels so much inferior than my pay and go hd2..

Maybe I'm just unlucky then... I'm having no end of trouble with mine...

Have to restart it multiple times a day.

Text input lag (significant... so much it often screws up writing a simple text)

Phone lock ups.

On some custom roms I had battery life lasting under 2 hours from a fresh charge... so obviously, avoided those... lol

There are a few things I like about it... much better for video... wifi hotspot... pretty animations... plus, obviously, the screen is significantly better.

But I would much much rather go back to an iphone so I can have a phone that just works without all these stupid annoyances... maybe win 7 will be better to use... hopefully they'll get that rom sorted soon hehe

Another massive annoyance of mine I was just reminded of...

Sometimes missed calls don't show up

and there's no notification when you receive a voicemail!? An annoyance that due to the nature of my work, has caused me to lose money... probably only due to the ease of how the iphone announced voicemail... I'm now getting better at checking daily - but still frustrating having to call 901 and cyphen through all the stupid recorded messages...
