Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

I'm trying to get decent at sf4 in preparation for ssf4 atm I'm only playing randoms online and getting my ass handed to me most of the time.

I just bought a fight stick and am going through the arcade mode atm to see who I like the feel of, I find fights easiest with akuma atm but I am guessing he is considered an overpowered and unfair character, I handle ryu ok and honda isn't terrible, I can't play guile or vega to save my life though.

If anyone wants to humiliate me online add prankster182 on live

what platform do you play on? i only play on pc and dont worry i am crap as well :D

anyway i dont think akuma is overpowered at all, although he does crazy damage when his whole combo get though (ie. s. hp > light spinning kick > heavy dp > fadc > red fireball) and his zoning is immense...but he has no health, meaning he takes massive damage when hit and is usually dead after 3-4 combos. i think he is a glass cannon and i consider he as "only" the 5th best character in the game (with sagat far far towering above the rest).

Sagat > Ryu > Akuma

i disagree. i think its sagat > ryu > balrog = rufus > akuma....etc

but to be fair, ryu, balrog and rufus are pretty equal in their own ways with sagat above the rest.

i just hope the new ultra can make chun li stronger as i will be using her. for at the being i am still learning the basics of how to play as chun li on sf4

Well that's just what the tier list says but someone always disagrees.

I think it is pretty accurate, Akuma is an insane character in the right hands and will eat Sagats for breakfast.

Quite a few of the new chars are rated to be hovering around the top so it might not be so easy to rate the top teirs right now... Though i do belive i heard the devs mentioning that sagat is still going to be top or second with akuma moving up there too.

Rufus is a good character, but he's not so highly rated due to the fact he has a horrid time against other top tier chars like Sagat and Ryu.

I'd agree with Sagat > Ryu > Akuma

I think Sagat will be in top 6 for sure but I don't think he has any chance of being #1 anymore health reduction, standing light kick nerf and his damage is quite puny now.

(SSFIV that is)

I cant even get to a G2 final with Vega. I cant pull of the super and ultras when I want to because my joypad is fail.

<--- Hates semi circle characters and sucks with them.

its better to use the meter for ex moves anyway with vega, his leaping kick(d/f hk) > ex wall dive is lethal.

vega's ultra is a fail anyway, i suggest only use it when you see a fireball coming, but neither way its easily blocked and it takes too long to start, so basically dont use it (unless you know its 200% going to land) and dont rely on it

i think blanka is a easier character to learn charge moves. his combos and links are simple and he is fast, deals good damage and has good stamina, plus he has one of the deadliest ultra in the game.

dont worry i suck with semi circle characters as well. so you are not alone

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a good budget fight stick for the 360 or PC? And has there been any word yet on SSF4 coming to PC?

good match again today everyone. i think i am definitely returning to form. i think my best was my first two fights against Artheas' ryu and gouken. where i executed my plan perfectly (which was plenty of pokes and the odd one cancel to overhead to catch him off balance and throw/ poke > ex legs whenever he is close).

and i start slacking a bit because its too good to be true for me to hold a winning run, and i didnt/couldnt recover from my first defeat which was my blanka against Artheas' el furte (which straght after my 2 wins, although there were good close rounds that could have turned the tide). anyway i think its my best ever performance against ocuk's members today.

i think i have played everyone apart from kreeee, but i am sure he will whip my ass 100-0

the closest thing you got to a budget stick is the madcatz se one, which is just over £50. and i dont think there is any words in ssf4 coming to pc. but i am pretty sure the day will come, its just the matter of when.

i didnt think they were bring this one on pc???
i got the first on pc but online is limited as hardly anyone om so gonna get ssf4 on xbox 360 i think.

I find loadsa games on the PC version to be honest, hence why I prefer playing on there as opposed to on the PS3. Theres also the fact that the gfx are much much better!

Just had another session last night with Margaret and got hammered by his Sagat. Can someone else please play him and tell me if its just me who has gotten considerably worse because all he seems to be doing is the basics... but really well. Good zoning and when I make the mistake of trying to jump in, I am punished heavily. Can't seem to figure out a way of getting through at all, although I have played loads of good Sagats and I always feel confident against them, I've hammered plenty of 10k-14k GP Sagats.

Margaret can you and Artheas please have a long session and record it, I wanna see how he tackles you and then learn from that. :o

you have to fadc though the fireballs and then get in range to mix it up, the only way i find to beat sagat is to rush him down...at least thats what i do with my chun li. but watch out for the s. lk cancels and f lk > knee/uppercut. i guess your best bet is stand in mid-range to lure Margaret do something stupid, which doesnt happen much.

A Sagat who can do the basics really well will probably beat 98+% of the general online population :p
I doubt i'd do much better but i'm always up for playing better players.
Add me Marge if you're up for it, no complaining about online play though -.-
