Evo, E39 M5, E46 M3 or FD2?

It's 8,600 on my teg. Not many cars will have it that high. :p

Because you don't need to when you have boost...... :p

Nah seriously, the VTEC's will always have a special place in my heart ;)

Interestingly I believe my friend is, or certainly was running 10-11krpm on his drag evo.

What is a m3 cs it's not a CSL is it?

19" CSL style wheels (not quite the same stagger iirc), CSL front brakes (12.8 to 13.6"), faster steering rack from the CSL, M track mode for the DSC, CSL alcantara steering wheel (note that you lose the stereo and cruise control with this), alcantara handbrake pull, Alutec trim and the option of Interlagos blue paint.

It's a run out e46 M3 model, with a couple of CSL bits.

Tax on a post 2001 M5 is £240 now.

Ahh, sorry, thought all post 2001 were hit by the new highest tax, I've never had anything newer than an X-reg do not needed to know.

Isn't it £190ish, and isn't that only on prefix style plates? It will be £215 on all e39 M5s. The new tax rate only kicks in on 2006 cars.

FWIW, the tax on my M3 is £215pa.

Also, you don't care about legroom when it's this pretty :p:

One thing to note is that all e46 M3s have folding rear seats - whereas few (if any?) e39 M5s do. Try visiting Ikea in a BMW saloon which doesn't have folding rear seats and you will quickly re-assess your definition of a practical car.

Your right, but thats what Touring's are for. Beautiful interior by the way, I only wish mine looked as good inside.

True, but if your the sort of man who is dragged by his woman to Ikea, your unlikely the sort of man who is gonna be allowed to buy an M5.

End of the day its personal needs. I bought my E39 because I have silly long legs. I owned or driven every 3 series from E30 up, and they just lack the critical extra inches I need for comfort on long journeys. I also find heavy cars nicer to drive at high speed cruising buts thats just personal taste.

If I had your budget, it would have to be the best M5 I could find unless I found a similar condition M3 whilst looking......:D

Haha this is quite a hard hitting point in my mind, never thought it would be but it is!

Also, when did Ruby Black get introduced? Was it available on E39s or E46s? Or was it when the E60 came along? (fave colour behind Laguna Seca Blue)

Just buy a roof rack and then your once a year trip to Ikea need no longer shape your car purchase.

Or use Ikeas home delivery service.

If you're not buying for a few months then as a leftfield suggestion VXR8s might drop down to £18K. Out of your list an M3 would be my choice like many here.

DC2.

Upgrade to the real drivers integra :D

Maybe get ROmain to remap it and raise the VTEC a little more, then get some Mugen stripes for more JDM tilt and hp y0 !

I love the E46 M3, so that's what I'd go for. I have no experience whatsoever with any of them though :D

Black with all black interior = dull as hell, though :( Nick's red leather interior looks amazing

Having owned an Evo for 2 years I would say either Evo or M3.

If you want a refined journey then the M3, anything else the Evo.

You should be able to get a Evo 9 GT or 9MR for that price, and slightly modified at that.
