I think cars should also have an engine hours log like aircraft/boats. That would give a much better indication of wear and tear. In 8 hours cruising up to Edinburgh you would rack up around 430 miles from where I live. In 8 hours knocking around town probably no more than 100.
I just personally dont think cars are designed to go on this long without SOMETHING major failing.
I'd love a Phaeton...BUT...I wish they would get rid of the hideous wood trim and instead offer either carbon fibre or brushed aluminium instead - it's a lovely car, very powerful, very comfortable, very cheap second hand![]()
Its designed to compete in the luxury class segment, against S-Class', 7-Series' et all. Carbon fibre or ally trim would look rather out of place in this sector.
With respect, surely that's debatable? It should be an option IMHO, even if the wood were to remain as standard. I really don't like it, for me, it ruins what is otherwise a really nice car.
