Owl City - Fireflies

Owl City was pretty good(albeit a little too much like Death Cab/Postal Service) when they were first around and completely unknown to the masses.

Maybe I just liked them because radio 1 and the stupid masses hadn't heard of them?

its just a postal service cover band isnt it? :P

they are awful, i dont know how anyone could like em personally

That's the thing about music isn't it though - Each to their own... So jumping in with "aweful" isn't really very insightful...

Is it just me, or do other people find it bizarre when people describe bands or music as "crap" or ****?

OK, you may not like a track/band, and may prefer something else, but to then take this approach this qualifies it as "rubbish" just seems utterly daft to me!?

There's a lot of music/artists I don't like, but I'm not daft enough to suggest they're "rubbish"? All seems very odd mainly because I can't fathom the mindset involved...

I think when a band sounds sooo much like another band but worse it is ok to call them crap.

if people like owl city they should listen to the postal service and they will discover why people think this.

I can see similarities a little with Postal Service, but TBH I didn't enjoy their stuff in the least, where as I sort of like a few tracks by Owl City. Surely it comes down to the individual tracks, not do the instruments/vocals have the same production/sound at times?

And then you say sounds "worse", but this is a personal subjective thing?!?

And then as regards sounding like "Flaming Lips", don't get that one at all!?! That comparison hit me as very odd!

Going by your standards then, Oasis are crap then I assume? (They sound like the Beatles, just not as good :))

The moment I hear someone using "crap" or **** for music or a film, I sort of get the impression of an impetuous teenager desperately trying to make their feelings known, so they're over compensate to the juxtaposition. All sense of fairness or level-headedness seems gone!?

Nope, not in the slightest. Opinion is opinion at the end of the day.

Guess so... Just seems odd when someone describes a perfectly good band or film as crap, just because they don't like them? Just seems very slap'n'dash and not considered TBH... IMHO of course...;)
