I'm stil totally gutted about the price's
As I would only be using it for web browsing/e-mail/ocuk/pr0n/youtube the spec of the 13.3" I guess would be fine, but 13.3" is just that bit too small as I do travel and watching a film on it would be rubbish. 15" is just perfect but for 1500 I don't think so!
They were never going to include USB 3 in this update imo, it would have meant tacking on a NEC/Fujitsu chip to the mobo. I think that until Intel make an intergrated chip with USB 3, there is no chance of Apple adopting the standard in laptops at all, there might be a slim chance in the desktop range.
I don't even think that Intel plan to include USB 3 in the new Sandy Bridge architecture, only USB 2. They obviously have got it in for USB 3.0 and/or are planning to unleash lightpeak at somepoint to compete.
Lightpeak has great potential and if it was to be adopted by apple at an early stage it would push the platform on leaps and bounds, but i really think they should adopt USB 3.0 too. USB 3.0 will gain a lot more market penetration over the next 6-12 months and having it backwards compatable with XX million devices out there is a great booster for it's adoption.
I'm personally going to wait until LP or USB 3.0 is added to the 15" MBP's before I decide to get a new one (currently using a white macbook).
I think my dream MBP would have USB 3/Lightpeak, an SSD as standard (with TRIM support), a 15" OLED screen (even though they dont really come in 15" yet), a Quad core CPU and 6GB RAM. But I dont think that kind of machine is going to exist for a while yet.
Dear Apple,
WHY CAN'T I HAVE A BLU-RAY DRIVE??
Most probably as they want customers to buy Bluray media via iTunes.
They have video output you know. Plus, someone might only own a blu-ray disc because they bought it primarily for their home theatre.I don't understand who will watch a Blu Ray on a laptop?
Really not arsed about it myself.

It's more the capacity of the BR drive that would appeal to me, 25/50gb for backups on removable media would be most handy.
Good question...Quick question - when to apple typically offer the free ipod on macs in the HE store?? Is that only around June time?
After finding out about the update i was extremely excited, finally time for an upgrade i thought.
However on closer inspection there not bloody quad core!
Come'on apple!
