OK about two weekends ago I was driving back from Luton after seeing a few friends so got home late, say early hours of Saturday Morning. I dropped off two friends and was on my way home at about 4am, before I got to my house I thought I'd clean up my car a bit (throw rubbish away and bottles and things) so pulled up next to a skip on an industrial estate 2mins from my house.

Now, I was still in my car replying to text messages I'd received while driving and next thing I know a police car pulls up next to me, they jump out and come over to my car (I think they thought I was there to rob the place).

Here's where it gets a bit dodgy, my friends had been drinking and smoking in the car while we were driving and so the policeman smelt weed as soon as I'd rolled down my window. I explained everything to him and he grabbed my keys and told me to get out of the car.

They searched both me and my car and threw me in the back of theirs, they found a half empty bottle of Martel which I obviously didn't throw away. They wanted to drug test me but i heard the female officer arguing on the radio with someone and when she came back she said they can't because they don't have any or something like that but they had requested another unit to bring a breathalyzer. When it came I blew a zero but they thought I was high or something and still wouldn't let me drive home.

It eventually ended up in the woman officer driving my car the 0.somthing of a mile home and the geezer took me back in their car, when I got out of the car and just as they were leaving the male officer says to me "Oh and I've put an injunction against your car", I was like "What's that?" and he goes "It means your licence plate will be on our system (I'm assuming ANPR) and we can pull you over at any time to check if you have been smoking and driving"!!!!! I tried to argue my best that it was my friends blah blah blah but they didn't care and just did one.

As I only really drive my car on the weekends I haven't been on the road long enough to see if he was bluffing or not as I have yet to be pulled over, but if we fast forward to the present day I was talking to a guy who said he had this on his car and it resulted in him being pulled over virtually everyday and it was hard for him to complete a journey without being pulled. He said even one time an officer pulled him over and then tried to do him for having his fog lights on when it was foggy

Now I'm wondering how to check if I am actually on some police system and if I am is it just my car or myself as well and if so how do I go about removing myself?

Sorry for the wall of text, I thought it best to explain the circumstances so the questions would be kept to a minimum.

You let your mates smoke weed in your car?

No sympathy.

Chances are those cops would put intelligence on your car, after pulling it and it stinking of weed.

Enjoy!

They ain't hurting nobody so I let them do what they want as they are my friends...

As the driver you are responsible for your passengers.

What would have happened if they'd starting doing stupid stuff, like people do when they are drunk/on weed? Opening a door, leaning through and grabbing the steering wheel/handbrake?

The cops were right to do what they did and I hope you have learned a valuable lesson about your responsibilities as a driver.

And having smeg mates.

Chillout! I said they had been drinking and smoking as in a couple shots and maybe a couple spliffs, not on some mad ass bender where they become drunken drugged up brutes who don't know how to behave.

You know what, maybe it was a bad idea to get advice from here

Don't know what advice you're looking for really, are you just looking for tea & sympathy?

As the driver you're responsible for the legality of what your passengers do whether it be not wearing their seatbelts or smoking weed. If you get stopped smoking/carrying weed then you're going to either get a caution there and then or prosecuted (for repeat offences), do you assume being in a car and/or being parked up is somehow different?

I don't really know what you want people to tell you - doing/permitting illegal stuff to occur in your car makes you liable to be prosecuted.

They've probably stuck a Section 59 marker on your car so other cops are aware that you/your friends drive around doing drink & drugs in the car.

If you are on the anpr system i found its best to sell the car and get another one, it can really become a hassle getting pulled and searched everyday.

Oh serious? I just bought her :(

The advice I'm after (as stated in the OP) is how to check if it was a bluff or not and if so how to remove myself

Moral of the story is, tell your friends not to drink or smoke weed in the car, if they refuse then they can get the taxi. Simple really.
