TV Election debates - how are they doing?

Sorry for being unclear, my point was Nick is telling you/people what they *want* to hear. It doesn't matter if it's BS, unworkable or silly. People are falling for one of the oldest tricks in the book, an art perfected by used car salesmen (whom I have had the displeasure of working with). Clegg's answers were hyperbole.

I agree with that.....

well this is why we have elections :)

Im just saying he 'sounded' like the best candidate tonight. whether thats being a good salesman or not, he still had answers while the other two b*tched

Of course LabCon argued, they have the most to lose!! Sounding the best is all fur coat and no knickers, They have NO history, there is NO precedence, they have some crazy policies.... we can't just vote (or shouldn't !) on hyperbole.

apart from their nuclear policy, what others are crazy that you can think of? TBF, i have never looked at them seriously enough to look :)

How are people even contemplating voting for Nick Clegg when he speaks like a car salesman!

Are people really that gullible?

thats cos this place is full of ignorant tory/bnp lovers!

Rubbish. Most of the ignorant are actually pro-Labour.

I think it's about fair. I thought Clegg came across the best, but I didn't expect such a huge lead.

It'll make the second debate very interesting, to see if DC/GB improve at all.

Yes. Its easy to come up with rubbish and mock the other two parties, seeing as they won't get in anyway so don't need to back it up.

Yep go heavily tax all business and the "evil" bankers (great way of getting grey and dim voters), then they'll move to a cheaper country to do business in. GG

He did his job. He sold himself and the party to the audience. Brown didn't do a bad job, but Cameron came out looking like a fool.

The common man doesn't have time to trawl through pages of policy and analyse this. He relies on the media to inform his decision and Clegg has done a good job of selling himself today. His policies might not add up, but that means little to the average joe who is looking for someone to vote for.

What does everyone think of the poll results from the 4000 voters? Doesn't seem to reflect the feelings in here..
They seem to reflect my friends on fb, and itv.com streams. Worryingly.

There are lots of mine - and other's comments in the other thread. But I disagree with scrapping nuclear power and nuclear weapons, increasing the tax threshold to £10k, "mansion tax", surrendering policy to the EU, breaking up the banks, max bank cash bonus of £2500, scrapping tuition fees, minimum alcohol pricing, fully elected Lords, voting at 16, adopting the Euro, and so on, mainly on cost grounds, but also on logic.

I liked how Cameron met a black 40 year old man who'd been in the navy for the past 30 years and how Clegg had to keep reminding everyone that he's an MP.

My thoughts exactly. I thought Clegg was miles ahead in most of the answers. Brown was exceptionally poor.
In fact Brown and Cameron were just too arrogant/cocky and extremely smarmy (as though they were too good to be doing something like this) to actually debate some of the questions and their in-house jokes just detracted peoples attention. Clegg appeared professional and up for the job - which is slightly strange to say the least. I'm surprsied at how bad our two main party leaders were - but maybe that's just me.

Find me a politician who doesn't. You're telling us something everybody already knows, all politicians tell people what they want to hear. One things for sure though, if you vote for Brown you're just getting more of the same (obviously). At least the lib dems might be different, for better or worse.
