Ok just completed all I can do with the Recon and Assualt kits in terms of geting Insignia , decisions decisions what to choose next .

I think I will concentrate on Engineer and save teh Medic for later ranks when I need to Point whore.
 
Have you done the hit reg/ping tweak Aedus posted a few pages back? 6 Bullets will kill someone if they register correctly - if either of you are strafing, it could just be the server thinks you're missing, but the client shows you're hitting.

The hit-reg tweak made quite a difference for me - more so when I use a shotgun.. I no longer have to only aim for people who are staying still! :p

Aye, happens before and after the ping tweak.

Maybe they actually hit melee first ?

Meh, i still can't figure out how to get pings to show in the browser. I tried running the exe from the steam folder directly as admin but nothing. Either way i just guessed about 50 or 60 :p
 
Still loving BFBC2 although I do restrict my play time to an hour or so in the evenings instead of hardcore no-lifering playing all the time. Much more enjoyable that way.

Not bored of any maps yet, and the one I did have most trouble with "Obama Desert" I have now overcome by chopper piloting with Hippos and pwning noobs. He guns, I fly and the Helifire rocket and lock-ons are amazing fun.

The US chopper I can pilot easily now mainly because its so responsive and fast. Hippos was gunning last night on one map and he managed 24/3 and a bucket load of points coming top of the team.

We switched sides and went in the Russian chopper. Whilst it still does the job it isn't half as good. It turns quicker but the up and down movements are so slow and cumbersome it is a real PITA to keep moving/rolling. We didn't do half as well in the scorebord and I think it just highlights the stark contrast between the two choppers.

Why one is better than the other on different sides in modern combat I really don't know. I'd prefer them to be equally as good or bad personally. I can understand it for the likes of Battlefield Vietnam where the VC aren't exactly going to have the Huwey Gunship...but for Russia.vs.America I'd expect pretty **** hot choppers on both sides!

You're forgetting the fact that the Russian chopper has all windows replaced with THE FRICKING SUN.

I just run past the chopper if I on the Russian side, it's not even worth bothering with. I can get the same experience by looking directly into the sun with binoculars.

Yeah that is a huge problem. Since toning down my gamma/brightness to those recommended in this thread it helped visability A LOT!

Still flies/handles like a huge fat bitch though!
 
There is little more satisfying then creeping round the back of someone who has been killing you and rather then knifing them, switching to shotgun and then blowing them miles away :D.

Bought this about 4 weeks ago once it reached £30 on steam. Loved the single player but thought the multiplayer was poor (laggy, bad browser interface, snipers everywhere).

I don't know if much has changed in the past month or so, but i pried myself to play it again yesterday (try and make me feel better!) and now i absolutely love it! must have played for about 4-5 hours straight, which is something i've not done since teenage years. Granted it was a Sunday and i had nothing better to do, but still.

Managed to get to Level 5 (39,000 points) and unlocked quite a bit. The standard assault rifle is appalling, but the XM8 or whatever its called is worlds better. Snipers are annoying, but ye good ol' grenade launcher attachment works wonders ;)

Now i can see what all the fuss is about this game. It's bloody great! :cool:
 
Ah I just remember I was on a team with a random OcUK'er last night on the SAS server I think. I asked him if he had vent and he didn't realise there was an OcUK (or several) servers/vents. I pointed him in the direction of this thread I think. :confused:

Either way, my vent is available if anyone wants to join in (including the guy who I saw last night, forget the name sorry). The details are

We mainly play in the evenings and during days on weekends. We also DO NOT play HC. Mostly sit on the OcUK related servers (FT/UV, SAS, etc) and have some lulz.

If you play HC and play on TheGoon's servers, make sure you read the OP of this thread as it has the =TFU= game server and vent details!!!

Our current plan is to allow Steam to test the patch tonight and all being well we will look to release R7 client and R10 servers on Wednesday morning European time. I'll update more on that later once the details are finalised.


In the mean time here is the R7 client changelist.

  • Punkbuster is required ON for ranked servers
  • Ranked servers cannot be started with a password
  • Autobalance message goes to text-chat instead of in the middle of the screen
  • Added weapon balance tweaks to a number of weapons – we are eagerly awaiting feedback!
We aren't going to tell you what weapon balance tweaks we have done, we want your unbiased views on the changes before we detail what has changed.
 
I imagine people will equip the m60, gustav, and spam the noobtube to see if they've changed, nice list though.

Shame they haven't opted to alter the models to make them less similar to each other. It's sometimes tough to spot a Russian if you're American and vice versa unless someone has spotted them.
