What the hell....

That isn't a Ford Focus St500 as I know one

First I thought it was a dodgy mk3 mondeo - but I don't think it is..

It's a MK1.5 Focus Saloon with bolt on tat, otherwise known as a Focus ZX4. Says so on the back

They are different classes of cars. You might as well say, why did they make a 3 series Saloon when the 5 series was available?

Smaller saloon cars are quite popular elsewhere in the world. In South Africa for example, they do/did saloon versions of the Astra, Corsa, Polo etc.
