To get easy points, always throw ur med/ammo pack down. someone is bound to run into it.
If you recon, throw ur sensors into flags your going to cap for easy points again.

Gotta unlock these things but they are easy to get :)

Also, try not to TK :P

Just got this game...to save myself 399 pages of reading - anything a new player really needs to know before I get stuck in?

Yes you will die a lot (I still do and I just leveled up to 21!).

General Tips:

1. Start as medic and level up as quickly as possible (heal/revive team mates when you have the kit and defib).
2. Get the m60! :D
3. Use cover and don't run in straight lines, otherwise someone else with an m60 will snipe you from t'other side of the map.
4. Fire in short controlled bursts, anything longer and you'll hit the trees, ground, sky, the little bird nesting 300 meters away but you'll not hit your intended target and he'll shoot back and kill you in one hit.
5. Get the m60.
6. Get the Carl Gustav rocket launcher or better known as "The Noobulator".
7. Kill/Death ratio is not where it's all at. Go defend/attack those mcoms stations, help team mates, repair vehicles etc.
8. Get the m60.
9. Try out all the vehicles.
10. Pick up fallen enemies kits for better weps/gadgets.

Config

1. Lower some graphic details to up the FPS as much as possible.
2. Make the config changes to gamesettings.ini and settings.ini to alter the mouse smoothing speed on land, sea and air (made a big difference to my game)

Shallow water and rubble are good places to hide a mine. Basically anywhere where the mine will be difficult to see but also likely to be run over is the key.

When using mines it's so satisfying seeing the 'destroyed vehicle' points pop up on the screen while you're running around elsewhere

Chaps , I am about to start playing the engineer , any tips on getting Mine kills please other than obvious vehicle choke points ?

Not used them myself, but I would imagine placing an "obvious mine is obvious" one in clear sight and then placing one to the side where the tank has to go to avoid the obvious one would work quite well. As mentioned, placing them in shadows or in shallow water could work.

Also, if you're feeling brave you could always sneak up behind a tank and place one there and hope they reverse over it to avoid a mortar strike!

I have a feeling that mines do not arm while there is an enemy tank within a certain distance, I've surrounded a tank before, and then it just drove off.

Seriously you guys give the average vehicle driver far too much credit :p

Putting them in water is great and completely unseeable but there are very few levels where thats really possible. Try not to put them near places that your team may camp, they can easily get destroyed by Tank/APC fire aimed at people/vehicles/buildings.

Putting them in plain sight on spots where people tend to just drive straight through to get somewhere else is great, they're too busy looking for people and miss the mines. Just around corners is a good spot too. As is just short of MCOM stations/flag capture where people rush to get the tank in close.

Putting them behind vehicles has ended in epic fail so many times :p But when it pays off its hilarious. Oh you're avoiding that guy with the RPG/Mortar are you? Boom!

My personal favourite is throwing them just off the edge of a beach and watching people drive up full speed in the jet ski/speed boats :p
