Battery life has definitely improved since I got version 40, even though the phone is now over a year old (just)

Problem I have now is that the screen is clicking when I press it in certain places. (like something is moving) I tend to scroll about in the same kind of area due to me holding it with one hand and just using my thumb on that hand. I guess I have worn it out! Kind of annoying hearing it clicking though.

My gf's is still running V3.0

Is there a comprehensive guide on how to update it to V4.0/V5.0?

Googling gives me stuff from 2008, and looks really complicated!

What product code is it (on a label under the battery)? If it's an unbranded red one I'm betting it's probably 0575581, that product code hasn't received V40 yet.
You can either wait for it to be officially released for that code by Nokia, change the product code of the phone to one that has had that update sanctioned (this will invalidate the phone's warranty), or if you live near enough to a Nokia care point they might be able to update it for you.

Can't check from here, but guessing I will need to change the product code.

What should I change it to for V5.0? Is it that much better than V4.0?

Search for the dailymobile forums and flash a cooked firmware to your 5800, its a doddle to do and all you need is the usb lead that came with the phone.

The cooked firmwares make the phone a hell of a lot faster than nokia's efforts, plus there are lots of extras, etc.

Here is an example of how i have my homescreen....

Can you link us to what you think is the best cooked ROM please?
