why are jean sizes just wrong for big people!

Indeed. I have to buy a 38-40" waist (my waist is about 35"), get them taylored to my waist so that I don't have to wear skin tight trousers if I bought the correct size! Then again I'm atypical as I traing for size and strength so it's understandable, but still annoying. Still I like having my big thighs! :D

usually i wear baggy jeans because beeing 6"6 finding any jeans that feel like they properly fit is almost impossible, my wife has slowly wore me down over the years with comments such as "jim royal jeans" they are jeans like jim from the royal family FFS! they are slightly baggy jeans

anyway she forced me to buy some "straight leg" jeans after wandering around for what seemed like forever trying to find sizes to try on i had to settle for a
40Waist 32leg (the biggest size i could find on the high street)
! im not a size 40 waist! im a 36!

the 36/32 i tried on i couldnt even pull up above my thighs its as if they measure a person of average height and get sizes from him then just scale them up which obviously just doesnt work unless you have drain pipe legs!

so i buy a few pairs of 40W 32L because they have no 34L in the biggest size they sell WTF?

you can get 36/34 , 38 /34 but only 40w 32l?

the legs are long enough anyway i just would have liked a bit more give! i can get them on and they dont look all that bad but they dont look anywhere near as good as someone of around 5"8 would look in a pair for his size and i feel demotivated! i know they dont look it but it feels like im wearing a set of one of madges leggings and i have a bulging area around my crotch which kinda looks like i stuck something down there!

if i had an extra half 1/3 of an inch of give around my thighs and crotch they would probably feel okay but people dont seemt o know how to make clothes for tall people! it really annoys me because its not as if theres only a few of us around and i see the odd bloke who is atleast 2 inches above me.

i can only see it getting worse as i look at the kids of today and you see teenagers wearing what could pass as girls jeans and they have imaculate long hair like a bloody women

Look here:

http://www.highandmighty.co.uk/

they cater for people like us who are normal weight, but just taller than average.

i'm the opposite my inside leg is 28.5" so 32/30s look terrible. To get into 28s I need to be 30 waist but the effort for those two inches is indirectly proportional...

Have you tried the Big and Tall shop on Grainger Street? :D

there is one?
32L? I'm 6'4", and I need a 34L.

I'm also a 30W with a squeeze, or 32W with a belt :p

Normal jeans size: 32W/34L

well they sort of fit they are long enough the inside leg on the jeans actually measures at 34inches with a tape measure my own inside leg measures around 35 ish (self measuring)

they arent an ideal fit though could do with a bit more room width ways down the leg.

i cant see anyone who is a proper 40inch waist getting in these as there legs would be a lot thicker.

anyway whole point of this thread was jean sizes are completly wrong and the leg isnt even 32inches like the label says :S, anyway they are out of proportion unless tall people have narrow thighs and short crotch/small penises

Yep. Head down Grainger Street from the Monument, past the top of the Bigg Market, past Forbidden Planet and The Travelling Man (on the right) and it's the last shop on the right (opposite Yates'), just before what used to be the Sports Cafe but is now The Mile Castle.

I've used a mixture of traditional street names, pubs and geek shops to ensure you know where I'm talking about :D

I'm 6 ft 6 and a 36" waist... I don't have these problems, 36 long from places like Burton/Next fit me perfectly. It's when I visit House of Fraser or somewhere I encounter problems.

what hyperzed said, look at burton's online store, the range of sizes is quite impressive, also their jeans look good. Most highstreet retailers only stock the most popular sizes in store, and a lot of them for some reason only make jeans for short fat people (38/30, 40/30) which I find highly odd and annoying.

From doing squats etc my thighs are now too big for most jeans I try as I have a small waist of ~31". I usually have to wear 34 or 36s though as otherwise they just get properly tight around my thighs :(

6ft6 and i struggle sometimes, but i do get 36"w 36" leg when i can. most jeans are 36" long which seams fine for me but i always try them on first
