Which Sim City Version?

Hi,

im up for a bit of Sim City 2000/3000 or 4.

I always used to play 2000 and thought it was a great game, 3000 was also decent and four didnt run on my machine properly at the time.

which one is the best?

Older is better so 2000, or the SNES version

SNES? Ugh! Amiga is okay but SNES with a controller is horrid. Sim City 4 wasn't exactly a bad game. So my votes for that.

4 + rush hour > any other. I've played all sim city games since sc2k.
The mod community is MASSIVE for sim city 4, see simtropolis ( google it).

4 is a nice city sim, society's, the one that came after, is a dumbed down piece of ****, compared to sc4.

To be honest, i always like SC3000 over SC4.

thought SC4 was just too complex for my liking

SC4 all the way with the Rush Hour expansion. Worth picking up a few mods too - there are some mods that utilise todays powerful CPUs and help your citizens pathfind to the quickest transport routes.

Not even close to SC4 IMO.

Last I read I thought the developer had stopped all input into Cities XL, has that changed?

I'm just installing the Deluxe edition now, I'm fairly sure it worked the last time I tried it though. :cool:

i played it just the other day

Only issues i have is game resolution, you will have to add a custom res to the start-up on the short cut or just play in a dodgy non screen res.

I tried mine in 1650x1080 and had some nasty flickering - so ended up playing 1600x1200 hardly noticed a difference after 30 mins got used to it.

Had a few very random out of the blue CTDs as well so make sure you save often if you remember !!!
