Just as I start to get excited about the reach beta the inevitable happens:

My trusty elite had NO issues up until yesterday when it decided to flip me the bird and die whilst playing assassins creed 2. :(

Now the unit is still under warranty for the RROD so i am in the process of returning it as we speak. However the question is do i go out and buy an arcade for cheap (are they cheap anymore?) and use that with my HDD for the beta while my other one is getting repaired. Then flog it afterwards or keep it as a spare for another room?

Hmmm

Yes I was Very annoyed.

I thought Microsoft's repair process had a quick turnaround so if I was in your position I don't think the price of an Xbox Arcade is really worth the 5 or 6 days that you'll be without a 360.

Yeah i suppose so. We will see, last time a friend of mine returned thiers it took up to 2 weeks. I guess things have changed.

But if i did that I would have nothing to complain about or anyone to complain too?

Someone with 10,000 posts cant really moan about a bit of forum spam surely ;)

Get it sent off ASAP. Weather or not you get a new one is up to you. Get the ball rolling and you'll have a good idea of when you may get it back....good luck

mine waited to go when i had just got forza3 from india 2 weeks early.but then i couldnt play xbox for month as m$ was being hammer'd for fix's at time..

Just had a friend ask me how to repair a RROD 360. His brother wanted to throw it away and just gave it to my mate for free because it was past it's warranty.

Turns out, even if your xbox is beyond its warranty date you can send it back for the RROD (rightly so). So now the jammy git has a free 360.
