If £6bn of unproductive government spending is used to fund a direct tax cut, money is *not* taken out of the economy

You can argue forever more whether those tax cuts would as effectively stimulate the economy as capital investment (various studies show in this type of situation people are more likely to use that tax cut to pay off their credit card rather than spend the money - which doesn't do much for the economy).

LOL where's Dolph? Classic straw man from Cameron there.

Missed that. Care to elaborate? I'm crap at multitasking. :D

It'd cost jobs and income for defence contractors of course, the MOD would, given free choice still want some planes please but probably something actually designed for ground attack.

Sure enough on both counts, though the contractors are already making cutbacks. I'll admit I would have been more bothered about that had a family member who worked for one not resigned a month ago.

I don't get the whole Bank hate thing.

Yes they messed up and we bailed them out but we will get a lot of that money back eventually.

Our economy is a service economy. The banks and financial institues form a massive part of the service economy. Why would we want to tax them and limit them like America when we could be attracting more financial insititues to come and operate here, bring jobs and wealth

Clegg: no bonuses to banks

WTF??? Bub bye banks in london... and our economy with it.

Nick proposing to interfere in private banks bonuses. Possibly illegal, and if not, it'd decimate the city (who pay a sizeable chunk of taxes).

Regulation, yes, absolutely, but there are limits.

NO GORDO!!!!

YOU TWISTED THE ARM OF LLYODS TSB TO GET THEM TO BUY HBOS WITHOUT SEEING THE BOOKS!!! THEY DIDN'T WANT IT.

YOU MESSED UP LLOYDS TSB, NOT THEM!!!

Argh.

would you trust Cameron with the banks? I wouldn't.

Browns grin does look daft.

Clegg wants to be all things to all men and loses credibility.

really i wouldn't be so sure.

Only an economic illiterate (like George Osbourne) would say so.

Brown said something like those earning £20k or less will not be affected by the NI rise, Cameron said something like Gordon thinks if you earn over £20k then you're rich. Deliberate misrepresentation.
