New build lacking graphics card

This was on the mother board thread but its taken a new direction now, so im posting it in the correct forum.

Ive decided on a few things here.
i7 920 (Nehalem)
GA-X58A-UD3R (Socket 1366)
OCZ 6GB DDR3 12800C9 (Triple channel)


Now im stuck on a graphics card. Looking for something better than my 8800GT but not over £150 - That really is my max. I would rather stay with Nvidia but it seems that there is better value out there with ATi (and ATi have dx11).

Ive read lots on the 5770 and 5850 and the 260, any ideas?

Also what does the HIS on the 5770 cards mean?
 
Sell your 8800, along with your £150, and if you eat baked beans for a week.

You can afford a 5850.
 
Desperately try to find a 5830 for around £150-£170, then overclock it

But seriously with that kind of setup, find £200 and get a 5850, it is great bang for the buck

It's on par with the 5830 but just lacks DX11 which to me doesn't matter at all.

It'll also help you avoid any driver issues that might occur when going from nvidia to ATI assuming you don't want to perform a clean install.

This will be a completly new build. The old computer will still be in use but not by me :)
So drivers shouldnt be too much of an issue.
Since this is a completly new build its costing a lot which is why i cant pay over £150 for the card. Looks like the OcUK range of 5770's is where im at. As long as its better than my trusty 8800GT im sure ill be happy for now.

I would say much better.

Granted if you look at stock benchmark's not by a massive amount but overclock it and it will shine compared to a overclocked 5770 is my gut feeling.

But anyway you're getting a 5850 so no more talk of 5770s or 5830s :D

My mistake.Didn't read it properly.

5770 is the one to go for so.May as well go for the newer tech.
