Cold Call from "Microsoft" Tech...

These things are hilarious, i hear then phone go, dont bother to answer keep watching tv, my dad answers 5 seconds later i hear,"Now listen hear you dumb ****,what your doing is a ******* illegall offense, take me off ur ******* registry beofer i phone the police". (hes an ex-solicitor), 5 mins later the phone goes again, so my dad just had a spack at the guy down the phone, it really is quite amusing i find, :D

If I ever get one of these calls I'm going to diligently follow all their instructions and eventually say I'm running Linux =).

So; when are you expecting the break-in, now you've confirmed to the thieves that you have expensive computer equipment?

Oldest trick in the book and you did more than fall right into it. Next time "Sorry, I don't have a computer." then hang up.

Someone set up a honey pot and track what info is sent to where using a tcpdump filter on the inbound/outbound port's. Find where its being uploaded to and let us all take the attack to them :)

i told one once to 'hang on a sec' and then proceeded (whilst drunk at uni) to tell my mate that if he ever slept with my mother again i would tell my sister who was pregnant with my uncles baby but was in love with him but would overlook the fact so long as he bought the ring she wanted from Argos. I also went on to explain that just beacuse your willy feels itchy does not mean that the prostitute you slept with last night was the one that gave you the clap. When i returned to the phone we were all in complete stiches and teh girl said, ill nee your account details to check there was no fraud' - i promptly told her to go **** herself and to p*** off back to her own stinking country and to die if dissentry. im not kidding and it felt great.

They would need to get a plane ticket from from india if they wanted to break in. I'm not sure it's worth it for my made up super computer. :p

Besides that's not the scam. I have already researched it and the whole point of it is that they convince you that you have malware. Then direct you to their software to "fix" your computer. Then they remote onto you computer with their dodgy software and steal your passwords etc etc...

I'm ex-directory so never get these calls. Not sure if that's an advantage or a disadvantage. :D

What it really when they say they're a Microsoft technician is "yes, so am I", followed by technical questions. :D

I had a non English dude ring up asking about my bank stuff hintly so I lied :D teh bank said I should have put the phone down but i love making thier lives a misery, damm scum.

how they got the info is beyond me

we should be ex directroy, but I guess its easy to find the info on who lives were and what thier home number is, I guess only having mobile does have its perks
