Okay,my dads got my old pc which is now 3 years old. its a q6600 computer from the worst shop on earth, PC 'earth'. I would have to say to never ever go there unless you really have no idea.

Well, the problem is that the Pc does nothing. Not even power up I'm guessing that its the PSU as usually you get the fans even if the mobos gone. I could check that using my pc, but i really cba :)

Would you say this is most probably linked to the PSU? And whats the best deal for about 400W?

+i have just been recently informed from him that the electric 'tripped' and then it wouldn't come back on. So i'm guessing thats the problem :)

Could be, although sometimes a properly dead mobo can stop everything from powering on (or in some cases even RAM/graphics card can do this). You might want to remove the competitor name even though it's just to bitch about them.

Anyhow best value reliable 400W psu is the Corsair CX atm.

Thats why I mentioned them! :)

+ i've removed it and thats what i'm going for. its only a Q6600 at stock, with 2gb ram and a 8400gs. Nothing too powerful :)

I would try 'jump-starting' the PSU with a paperclip before shelling out on a new one - only take 2 mins.

But yes you wont go wrong with the Corsair 400.

God, I couldn't trust myself jump starting it :)

I've ordered it to come this wednesday so it should be all back up by then, at least so I can have my i7 all to myself :p
