Which skies do you feel safer flying in?

I've just stumbled across some youtube videos of aircraft emergencies and the one below involving the Swiss aircraft in Russian airspace left me absolutely gobsmacked!

For comparison. The incident with the Thomson and the Swiss are very similar. Each aircraft takes off and strikes birds shortly after leaving the ground. This causes engine damage and requires the aircraft to make an immediate landing. The Thomson lost one engine. The Swiss aircraft sustained damage to both engines.

Swiss in Russia:

Thomson at Manchester:

And for comparison, here is an ATC recording taken of the British Airways 777 crash at Heathrow:

Got contrast? :p

Eddie the eagles of course.

I never really consider safety when travelling by air; I expect it to already be as safe as they can make it.

Hmm useless russians. It's amazing how efficient and calm the brits are when things go wrong, I guess that's all the training shining through.

I think i would need another pair of undies if i looked out the window to see the engine blowing out flames and popping like that second video :p

I feel safe in pretty much any kind of sky. After hearing that I'm less happy flying into a Russian airport, very naughty them not speaking English. Same thing happens in Paris at Charles De Gaullé, I'd rather not fly into there either.

The same thing happens all over Europe and pretty much any country that doesn't speak English natively.

That's more worrying, I'd only ever heard my Uncle mention it occurring in Paris, though he does have to use English but an Italian accent when flying into anywhere in Italy.

Pilots are so totally awesome. I love the way they just speak without complete confidence and are totally unfluttered at all times. His engine was on fire, and he was completely cool.

They are awesome people. And half decent ATC's are not that bad either.

Good to know that British pilots and ATC are so well trained. On the other hand, I'm flying with Thomson from Manchester next week so perhaps not the best thing to watch :p.

Like the way one of the other Russian pilots chips in and tells the controller to give the Swiss pilot a break haha. And just lol at ground control.

the swiss pilot is hilariously happy sounding. sounds more like somene who just won the bingo than someone whos engines are both KOd
