Having watched Iron Man 2 at the weekend I decided tonight to go back to some of the earlier films and started with The Incredible Hulk (really good film IMO) and it's become clear that both Iron Man & Iron Man 2 are in fact set before this film!

So time-line wise at the mo it goes

Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Incredible Hulk

With Thor guaranteed to follow next year and presumably Captain America in 2012? Not sure when The Avengers movie will come out (rumours are suggesting 2012 as well) but who needs a Spiderman or X-Men reboot when you've got all these films to look forward to! Not to mention Downey & Paltrow both confirming that they're also signed up for a third stand alone Iron Man film - god knows how they're going to fit all these films in?

Great times for a comic book geek like me :p

Also just read that on the DC side of things that along with the next Christian Bale Batman film in 2012 there's going to be a reboot on the Superman franchise as well as a Green Lantern film in 2011 leading to a JLA film in the future

This is great!

Apparently the next Spiderman film is also planned for 2012, not sure about X-Men: First Class....

I like how Marvel Studios is creating it's own continuity universe. I'm quite excited about the prospect of an Avengers film.

I dunno if the Spiderman reboot and X-Men: First Class will fall into the same continuity though because Sony own the rights for Spiderman - it won't be a Marvel Studios movie and I think the same will happen with Deadpool, X-Men First Class and the next Wolverine movie.

Well it's been around for ages, just not in movie form :p

I'm not quite sure how people are going to take discovering that Thor, Iron Man, X-men and all these characters exist in the same universe.

Oh and I forgot the comic book adaptation I'm most excited about...

RUNAWAYS.

I've always loved runaways, can't wait to see how they do that.

Don't forget Ant Man,

I have heard several rumours about this film and TBH it excites me the most because Ant Man has always been less about the action and more about crazy science.

They couldn't do Ant Man justice by filming it in the same fast paced action style as the other films because he lives beyond the realms of action based science fiction and into the world of total science fiction.
Then consider how they will marry this to the Avengers movie.

If they bottle out of Ant-man then the Avengers movie is going to blow like Spider-man 3 or X-Men 3.

I personally already think the Avengers movie is already doomed because we are all pinning hopes and dreams which means it is a guaranteed cash cow and in Hollywood land that means rinse it for all the money you can.

The comics will keep Marvel alive way after the films and I will probably be reading them with a bitter cheated taste like all the other bad game, comic and book to movie conversations.

I've a horrible feeling that the avengers movie will suck, there will just be too many big characters to have to deal with (and potentially too many egos as well). There's also the fact that they'll need some preposterously overpowered enemy (or perhaps a group of enemies) for these guys to even appear mildly challenged.

The Hulk is rumoured to be the enemy ;)

Signing Chris Evans to play Captain America is the most epic of all epic fails for me, he was terrible in F4.

I'm not convinced Ryan Reynolds will make a good Hal Jordan either, but at least he's a decent actor.

That's largely because everyone thinks it's being based on the first Ultimates storyline. If it is, it'll be epic!

I loved the fact that myself and a handful of other comic book geeks hung around after the Iron Man 2 credits to see the teaser for the next Marvel film!! :D - longest credits in the world btw! :p

I am actually looking forward to the new Captain America movie mostly because it hasn't really been given a proper big budget chance before (ignoring the previous low budget attempt during the 1990s) to show how epic the character is.

I have some faith in Chris Evans, he has done some reasonably good parts which shows that his portrayal of Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Fantastic Four isn't just his 'personality' but more so a bad script to work with and not what to be expected in Captain America - for the record I hate his part in Fantastic Four too.

Haha I agree. That was one long credit. I was never into the comic books but since Iron Man, I've been quite interested in the whole story and as such stayed till the end. At the end, only me, my mates and another group of people stayed behind. It was funny watching everyone else leave thinking that was it.

Chris Evans is said to be the best thing about the FF films in a lot of people's eyes

Personally I thought the FF films were quite entertaining as it is but hey ho

I'm not quite sure how people are going to take discovering that Thor, Iron Man, X-men and all these characters exist in the same universe.

No as of this moment in time there are only 3 movies that exist in the Marvel Movie Cinematic universe. Iron Man 1 and 2 and The Incredible Hulk. Every other Marvel movie isn't a part of that.

Anything with the Marvel Studios logo on it, is part of the same continuity. Everything that doesn't, even if it's a Marvel comic book adaptation, is not.

Every movie except from the 3 I've mentioned were all produced by various different picture houses and thus are not part of that same "cinematic" continuity.

That's why it's a good thing Marvel want to reboot Spider-man and X-Men cause it'll bring them into that same cinematic continuity.

Im sorry but at the end of the Hulk 2, did Tony Stark not meet with someone in a bar and say he was working on Iron Man? Or am i being mental again?

And will superman be in this film as well, as reading this thread he may be? In which case it would be a non contest. Unless of course the hulk had accidently swallowed some Kryptonite.
