I'm having problems streaming media over to my PS3 for some reason. It was working before for a couple of weeks after installing Windows 7 but then all of a sudden when I tried to watch a video yesterday my PS3 wasn't picking up the PC.

The PS3 isn't even showing up in the media streaming devices list on my PC. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?

I still use TVersity. Is PS3 media server better then TVersity?

PS3 Media Server doesn't need any special set ups it just seems to work for pretty much all files straight away. Sometimes skips streaming HD stuff over wireless but it works great if you have an ethernet from the PS3 to the modem and wireless from PC to modem

I used TVersity back in the day but never got along with it. Kept crashing my PC (never found out if it was TVersity or my PC at fault with that one though)

Just stumbled across this thread and thought I'd give it a whirl.
Seems awesome at the mo, but time will tell.

Just one question though.
Will ALL PS3's in the local area be able to access the folders I am now sharing ?

Yeah PS3 Media Server is great although i do get stuttering when streaming a 1080p movie with subs (Avatar) over my wired network.

I can never get PS3 Media server working, the PS3 will never pick up my computer :( just sits there with the big red cross.

Installed tversity and that works straight away !

Most of the time PS3 media server shows a red cross on my PC screen, but downstairs it has picked it up and streams fine! Try it

Are you downloading anything on the PC at the same time?

If i'm downloading it sometimes stutters, but when I cancel everything it works 99% of the time.

Only problems are with some .mp4 files but if you convert them its great.

.m2ts seems to be the best HD filetype for streaming

Meh... I don't know what's up with my set up!

I just tried PS3 Media Server and it's saying that it cannot find my PS3(it is on). I'm certainly no expert with networks so I may be spouting utter drivel but I think something must be up with IP addresses of machines on my network and there's some conflict somewhere.

A wired network should be fast enough to handle the bitrate of a 1080p movie, does it need to be converted on the fly perhaps?
