**Alan Wake Review*****

I was hoping for 8.7 at least.

Very funny.

I've just looked at some reviews and have now cancelled my preorder, i'll wait until it's a bit cheaper as i've got way too many games on my plate as it is. A 7/10 from Eurogamer has really put me off as i usually agree with their views.

from wiki..

The story will play out in an episodic format, with a television show-style presentation similar to Lost and 24 where each episode/chapter brings another piece to the puzzle of the main plot.

as soon as it said that i lost interest

Think since the E3 reveal last year my hype had dwindled for this game, i wanted the free roaming thriller/horror game they promised 6 years ago. Instead i got a silent hill/Alone in the dark type game, which seems to be pretty good, but doesnt seem to have lived up to its hype and early promise.
The other thing that has surprised me in the vids and the reviews ive read is that i thought that this game would be at the same graphical level as U2, KZ2 or GOW3, apart from the great lighting it looks like its fallen behind, if it came out last year it would have looked a far better game IMO. I always thought that this game would have been high up on the GOTY looks like according to many of the press revies it will miss out, but like all games you opinion is the only one that matters.

If anything, Alan Wake reminds me of the first Uncharted. It is a great, but flawed work (hello ugly daylight, quirky animations, and a script that mocks the viewer even more than Lost or Twin Peaks) that lays the foundation for what could be an absolutely amazing follow-up. I just hope it doesn't take another five or six years.

Hopefully they can do what ND with Uncharted 2, and improve on this one and make it the game i wished it was in first place.

Mines on its way, i've waited years for it and I'll be playing it for sure. I pretty much ignore reviews and reserve judgement myself.

I don't want to look at the reviews, and I'm trying to pretend it's not happening. I'm sure the huge delay and self hype will have ruined the game for me. I hope I'm terribly wrong.

My review copy arrived yesterday, hopefully have my review online in a few days. Actually not followed it much so going into it with a fairly open mind, hope it's good.
