Hi i have just built a media pc for the front room and conected it to my samsung 37" HDTV and it is working quite well, but i would like to recive some hd chanels. Are there any hd tv cards available at the moment and what would be a good one to get?
Thanks.

no matter what tv card you use for HD channels the resolution will be 720p/1080i as that is what the channels are broadcast in.

My card is using Phono in so I'm getting considerably less that 720p :( I've been looking for a solution for my V+ to TV for a while and would love to know if this would work for me.

Don't know how true it is but I heard there will be no Freeview HD TV cards till nearer the end of the year. With the decision to go to DVB-T2 there is a shortage of chips and they are all going into the set-top boxes to flog them for the world cup.

I use a single Hauppauge Nova S2 that works very well with Windows 7 :)

I have just got one of these and it works fine, but when i go to live tv in media centre all the chanels are all messed up they are not in any order and some are not recognised.
Some chanels will not work i get codec eror messages then the sound will stop.

Im mot that keen on the winTV program that came with it, again none of the chanels are in order and it duplicates a lot of the chanels it finds.

Whats the best way to set it up using media centre or whats the best program to use with this card?

Thanks.

Hi guys, what HD channels does the Hauppauge recieve? Also are there any known compatability issues? Looking to stick one in a rig consisting of an AMD X3 720, 4 gig Ram and an ATI 4850.

Thanks

At the present time I get BBC HD, ITV HD and Luxe TV HD (not really anything of worth on Luxe)...more HD channels will appear.

Also are there any known compatability issues?

I've used mine with an nvidia 8800GT, GTX 275 and an Asus HD5850 and encountered no problems...

IF you have sky HD or virgin HD then the easy way is a capture card rather than a tuner - I know black magic make one with HDMI in for around £120 or so. Otherwise you'll need a tuner and you'll need to wait until cards with DVB-T2 chips turn up, which will be a few months yet likely before widespread availability...

bigredshark keep talking! What happens after you plug the V+ box into the Black Magic Intensity Pro?

Sorry, I wondered off!

Umm, you tune it to the signal if required (for digital input it shouldn't be necessary) and then setup your app to use the input device to capture (or playback live). The issue is it isn't a tuner and doesn't appear as one so it'll depend on your software if it'll plug straight into your media app.

Also you won't be able to change the channel, you'll need to use the remote on the HD box...
