this would be enough 850w corsair

i run an oc'd i7 setup with a 5970 on a £70 ocz 700w psu so i don't see how that 850w corsair wouldn't do the job
it's fine at stock. but overclock it's not :( if you're 700w is fine, then my 850 should be ok. but then again, the review is so so.

The review on both Corsair HX 1000W and Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000W are very good. just not sure what else it could be.

What happens when you try to overclock them, and what temps are they at?
well i try say 850 1150. tried volts on all settings via afterburner. and as soon as i try any benchmark, ie FurMark, Heaven Benchmark v2.0, it starts, then the screen starts to flicker!! then the pc freezies.
Never had this problem before.
There both new cards, so really lost on this one.

Spec.
Win 7 64bit
Antec 1200
3x hardrives, (which i tried clocking with these not connected)
i7 [email protected]
Asus P6t DELUX SE
6gb Ram
Coolermaster 850w

So just wondering if it can't handle the overclocks ?

Strange :(

I doubt its because the psu cant supply enough juice...(might be a faulty psu mind) One word of advise just get the 1000w corsair and OTT it :D

Yeah been reading how good that 1000w corsair is.
I got the coolermasters from O/C last year. what's OTT ? lol durr i will say:D
I'm starting to think it could be faulty. but like i said, it's ok at stock.

P.s. the Corsair HX 1000W out of stock..

Well i downclocked my i7 to 3.8. and the card clocked fine on stock volts @ 850/1200.

I think the psu is fine, does good job. it just can't handle things when pushed.
orderd a Corsair HX 1000W anyway :)

as i can't seem to overclock either of my Sapphire or xfx BE 5970.
I'm thinking it might be my psu ?

I have even reformated etc. been using afterburner.
At stock there fine.
My PSU is a cooler master

I'll be adding a 5870 which i will O/C.
Would this be enough ?

or shall i get a 1200w ?
could someone recomend if not plz ? :)

Thanks.

Lol, but why? setup running out of steam already?

I know, i know, i just could not resist it, i overclock myself sometimes just cause it can be done

my pc shuts off under massive stress after few hours, its due to no more power...
my 950w psu have 930w on the 12v rail.
but thats what happens when you got a tri-fire setup!

my 12v rail drops to 11.8v and my pc shuts off -.-

put a new fan on my psu and its fine now ;D

lol what psu you got then, cant be a good one (maybe faulty fan?)... the PWM fan has never even spun up on mine cause its not drawing anywhere near 750w, i know this cause the dust filter is still clean after 6 weeks of use whereas my other filters need cleaning weekly,... rig in sig

EDIT: just noticed ur @ eyefinity so you need more juice than i first thought

Well i installed the new Corsair HX 1000W. turns out tobe doing the samething.
Ok on stock clocks. but even tried small clock off 800/1100 using MSI Afterburner version 1.1.5, But the pc still freezes after a 30 second or so on FurMark and Heaven Benchmark v2.0 :(

Anyone got any idea what else this could be ?.
i want to clock the thing, as that's what we do :D other are not having this same problem.
So my other PSU was fine after all.
If someone has any idea what this could be, let us know please :)

Cheers :)

I've got an 850 PSU Gamestream and a New Sapphire 5970 yesterday (Had a XFX before this)

I'm on QX9650'@4GHz, and i overclocked my Sapphire tonite for the first time but seems ok (850/1050). There's no Overclock tool like the XFX to adjust the memory, so what other settings do you make in MSI Burner? what about the voltage in Afterburner? - how much?

Sounds like a problem with RAM volts/timmings. The fact the problem stopped when you down clocked your CPU says so too (IMO). If its stable at 3.8Ghz why not leave it at that?

Told ya so...sorry had to it :p

Ok, so not the PSU have you checked memory timeings and vlots?

Lol :p Well, i reset everything in the bios and started over.
I always change so many things in the bios when clocking my CPU.
this time i just set the volts, and changed the QPI/DRAM core volts to 1.32500, as it goes a lot higher if set on auto.

Done 191 x 21.
I had MY TIMING @ 8 8 8 20 command rate 1T.
So this time i left it on auto, which gives me 9 9 9 24 comand rate 1T.
clocked the card,Runs stable in everything :)
So it was the timing ;)

as i did get a new psu :o and didn't need it lol.
Going to put mine on MM, which is a great psu.
So thanks for that tip ;)

850 1200 with 1.149 volts in afterburner :D
I'm using win7 64bit, and read that the xfx volt program don't work with it?
So you had a xfx 5970 BE then ? if so, what happen. ?
I had the Sapphire and sent it back, as i thought it was the card
But i was wrong lol

Yep just the timmings.
Oh well, we always get there in the end. part of learning i guess.
This time next year, i'll be a guru lol :D
