With proportional representation, if every constituency votes 1% for BNP, would that mean 6 constituencies would have a BNP leader, even though 99% didn't vote BNP? :-/ That seems a bit unfair if that is correct... :-s
Under AMS/MMP you do.
AMS involves consitituency voting for a large proportion of representatives under FPTP, with a second vote cast (can be the same or different) toward top up voting. The top up votes are used to add proportionality to the FPTP results.
As such, it doesn't penalise or eliminate the independent candidates as they can still stand in their constituency in their own right.
Lib dems got too big a proportion there. Stil, it isn't as bad as I expected. I guess, in the end, many of those student types who were jumping on a bandwagon that they didn't really know much about couldn't really be bothered to get out of bed and vote.

You also have to wonder why some students in Sheffield didn't bother turning up with their voting cards! How stupid.
Also, to all those people who didn't get a chance to vote, you had the whole day! Unbelievable from one person who turned up at a polling station at 6 to find a queue and so came back later at 8pm and there was still a queue and so came back at 9:30 and joined the still remaining queue only to get to 10pm and get turned away. Well tough quite frankly, she had many opportunities, it was her own fault.
I thought exactly the same, the daft bint should have joined the queue and she would have had her vote counted, tough titties if you "thought" the queue would get smaller, your choice your problem

Yeah exactly, although I would add, that all those who were in the queue should have been admitted to the building just before time was called and their votes counted.
Situations where polling stations ran out of ballot papers is absolutely disgraceful though.
News coming in that the BNP lost all 12 of their local seats in Barking. Crying shame
But they represent the feelings of the majority of the entire UK population, how can this happen

They have had their chance with the British economy and it isn't unfair to say that they have failed.
Given how frequently I've spoken out opposing the BNP, at the very least it suggests you haven't been paying attention.

Scottish PM and also is half of the cabinet, the scottish vote really crushed the tories getting a majority even though 40% voted tories and now to top it off the snp and welsh nationals are very keen to speak to labour about a coalition. Also the ethnic minorities are generally for labour. I think it's a bit unfair personally.

I am typically a conservative voter, however some part of me is actually excited about the prospect of a Conservative / Lib coalition. Hopefully weeding out the more stupid policies in either party and the more sensible productive ones going through.
Plus a terrible Labour government out of power...
Only time will tell i guess... either way a Conservative minority or a Lib / Con pact with brown gone leaves me happier than a Labour government.
Why is Brown *still* trying to hang on for power, he is jumping around with policies like a luny trying to please everyone. He looks desperate, tired and old and still doesn't seem to get it. That we the UK public do NOT want Brown as Prime Minister, Labour need to ditch brown get a new leader and move on. Personally i am hoping that someone like Ed Balls will win and will take Labour further into the doghouse.
