Asus rampage III Extreme

Which case do you have and are those 5850 cards you have installed?

Antec P182, and no, those are 5770s. The case only has 275mm width on the motherboard section, which is smaller than most cases out today, but the R3E fits without a problem.

Hi can anyone help me out :(

Last week my pc died from watercooling leakage, been fine for 5 years.

Looking to build a brand new PC with this motherboard but dunno what option to choose from. Dont know much about overclocking so i was hoping that when the oc bundle comes out i would buy though i gotten this reply

Thank you for your webnote.
Due to the short supply of the Rampage 3 at the moment we are not planning any overclocked bundles with this board. Once the initial rush for the Rampage 3 is over we will probably be able to offer a high end bundle.

looking from the reply it will take a while to release so i am wondering shall i go with buying parts instead. Also i poor experience with overclocking but would like to have a 4.0ghz :<

Hi guys.

I might be building a new system in a month's time but I have some questions about this boards compatibilitay with the Power Supplie, CPU Cooler and Memory i've chosen to get for my new computer.

The power supplie i`m gonna be getting is the BeQuiet Dark Power Pro P8 1200W Modular, so I was wondering if this power supplie is fully compatible and has all the right power connectors to fully power the board with no problems??? and is it correct that if i`m going for a Noctua NH-D14 Cooler and the Corsair Dominator GT 6GB Memory, I just need to take the fins off the Dominator GT Memory to fit the Noctua CPU Cooler on properly???

Also do I need to buy some thermal paste or is the thermal paste supplied with the Noctua already top quality paste???

Thanks so much for responding.

sylver the power supply is fine and compatible, if you get the noctua NH-D14 then yes you must remove the fins on the ram and you wont be able to fit the airflow fan. as for paste you do receive some good paste, but mx-3 or AS5 would be a "little" better.

simulatorman no screenshots :P? or updates?

Any chance of an update, my i7 980X is getting lonely sat on the shelf with the Crucial 256GB SSD. :)

Uhhh Stuart? You're guaranteed to be one of the last to get it, you just ordered it 5 days ago lol.

I'll buy the 980x for half the price you paid if you feel like letting go. By the way I've heard ssd aren't very reliable or don't have a long life span is that true. First I was thinking of getting the ocz 100gb vertex limited edition but not so sure now maybe I'm better of just getting some 30gb ssd and putting the os in it and thats about it. What will you be using yours for?

I have just received mine for the new build and it has more than enough power and cables to do the job:

yes OCuk just shipped my board.
So have OcUK received the second batch of R3E's then? I received no shipping notification anyway and I ordered on the 15th of April.

Slackworth, it would be great if you could confirm if the second batch has arrived. Having to wait for a 3rd batch would be very disappointing.

Erm, no I ordered it 7th April, not 7th May, not sure why your quote says May, I've not edited my original post.

As for long life span of the SSD, most of my kit gets upgraded every 12 months or so, currently using an i7-965X, as for what I'll be using it for, just playing games.

Praxx i have the crucial c300 256gb and i havent used it yet waiting on the board but after extensive reading on the crucial forum wut i understood is untill the technology develops from both side (the firm ware of ssd TRIM and the Marvell connectors) basically in SSD when u delete something u need this function called TRIM in windows 7 (only in windows 7) where it deletes the cell, read up about it but basically the ssd after use becomes slower than when you first got it, the solution atm is to just image save ur windows and restore and that acts as a clean defrag for the disk, in the future though when new firmware are release to support and improve the TRIM function there will not be need for this

I've got my RE3 yesterday at last, very impressive board, however I think I have hit a bug in the BIOS with the QPI/DRAM voltage, which even under default XMP settings jumps straight to 1.55V which is silly. The guys over at XS forums are having much better results with the 5xx BIOS, so I will just wait until it's official on ASUS's own website :).
