My mum has got a blackberry curve and I want it, now I will give her my phone and her sim works in mine....but the blackberry is on vodafone and I'm on orange so can I go and get it unlocked then still use messenger, Internet etc??? Or will I need to/best to get a vodafone sim?
Also how do I copy contacts from blackberry 2 sim?? There doesn't seem to be an option on the menu......
Thanks guys

Oh ok I don't think I have a blackberry Internet plan just a normal?? It matter?

Yes, without a blackberry plan it will never receive the service books necessary for anything to work with your BIS account (which you will also need to set up).

I've just done EXACTLY this for my GF, got a vodafone Blackberry Storm unlocked and de-branded and then used on Orange.

Yes it matters unless your not bothered by lack of internet, emails and messaging services.

You need to get a BIS plan aka blackberry internet service plan from your provider...once thats enabled then you can send/receive emails, browse the internet and use messaging services.

Ok....thanks guys.........So does anyone know how i get contacts from blackberry to sim? so i can do a reset of the blackberry?
Also i cant seem to find any sim only plans for blackberry...are they avaliable or do i have to buy a blackberry?

If its anything like I had on O2, just ring them and they'll either change your current internet plan to the Blackberry one, or if you dont already have it then they'll add it for a £5 a month sub

Well just been to Vodafone shop and got offered a blackberry curve for £15 a month with 75mins 300 texts and 500mb internet......So i think im going to get that as i only want it for blackberry messenger. Gonna shop around though see what i can get

So ive done some looking around and found that Virgin are doing the BBerry curve for £20 with 200mins unlimited texts and free bberry services......Seems good to me but does anyone know of any other deals around atm? Looking to pay around £20 a month.

Well for £20 a month your looking at the 8520 curve i imagine, which at best is a basic entry level BB...still a good device but doenst have built in GPS.

Dont think your going to get anything better than the Virgin deal if thats how much you want to spend a month.

Well if your 15 good luck on getting a contract as you need to be over 18 to get a contract....unless your parents are going to get you one on their names:).

Yeh, just make sure you have enough credit every month else the BIS service will get cancelled and you'll need to ring up again.

Thanks mate but, Will this work.....Me getting a virgin plan and new phone then unlocking my phone and my mums then putting my sim in hers then hers in mine? Will BIS still work etc or is it locked to the phone or something?

Yes the sim will work and BIS should work...if not then you might need to tell virgin that you have switched phones and they can sort it from their end.

Ok cool....So when putting the sim in do i need to manually do anything or is it all automatic?

Its all automatic...only thing you will need to do is set up your email addresses that you want to use ie gmail, yahoo or hotmail. If you find your having probs then ring up the provider and they will help set u up.

You can do it via the setup on the device or by going to the Blackberry internet website for your provider.

I suggest you go to the link in my sig and have a look there...plenty of info on BB's, read up and learn....also join up and ask as many questions there as you like...they have separate BB devices sub forums and some of the guys there are experts on everything BB related.
