guys what would you suggest for a quiet water cooling build.
it will properly contain gpu cpu and two thermochill 240rads

i am looking at the MPC350, MPC355 and the MPC655.
the MPC350 and 355 will have the XSPC res top on it as they are meant to be good for noise and flow.

i think all 3 are powerful enough for the loop, but how noisy are each of them?
i know the MPC655 can get noisy on setting 4-5.

can the MPC3XX's speeds be changed or are they fixed and how much louder is the 355 to the 350.

Thanks.

forgot to add if i got the MPC350 i have seen people saying that it is possible to solder bridge to connections to turn it into a 355 on some models, i was thinking of just soldering a switch in there so i can easily swop between the speeds, what do you think?

Just get the 355 with the XSPC top. Mounted on something AV it's as quiet as it gets. I have this set up in a HTPC so I'm as fussy about noise it gets, except maybe SOS!

My pump was originally the 10w one that I solder modded to 18w but I thought that wasn't possible with them now.

i dont know about if it is still possible will need to read up on that.
could always try and get a 350 from the mm i guess :)
but if you say the 355 is quiet that will be good enough i think, i have seen people saying the 355 is pointless compared to the 350 or the 655 tho... but guess that was with stock top.

what dose AV mean? im guessing your referring to a foam or rubber block?

thanks for the quick reply :)

Go for 350 mate - u don't need naything stronger than that.
I had 350 and now i've changed for 355 - the diffrenet is that 355 is much noisy and that's it ;)

ah, how come you upgraded?
and are you using the old 350 again? or do you need the extra power from the 355?

how noisy are each of them? can you hear ether of them from outside of the case if properly mounted?

Thanks for the reply :)

I'm using 355 now - and 350 lay in my drawer now.
I didn't needed extra power, just wanted to try if 355 is any better.
355 is rofly 20% noisier than 350 at full speed and giving much more vibration.
Cause I'm using poweradjust both pumps were quiet :) 355 is runing at 55% only - so you can't hear it ;)

what is poweradjust? is it a mod or hardware?

at full power could you hear the 350?
thanks.

Poweradjust it is a hardware - quite hard to get it now.
Even mcp350 at full speed - you will hear "her" - 70% and lower is puting noise down.
I'm sure that any 350 will be quieter than 655 mate ;)

is there any way i could lower the speed of the 350 or 355 then?
or is poweradjust the only way, did a quick look and they dont sell them anymore, is there a similar product out?

thanks.

Yes
1. Aqua Aquaero 4.00 "Powerbooster" USB - quite expensive round £100, but great device
2.MCubed T-Balancer bigNG 4-channel Fan Controller for air and watercooling - round £60

Or if will use ddc350 10W pump just buy fan controler with 11-17W per chanell - scythe making them I beleieve.

the aqua aquaero looks very good, shame i dont think i can justify the cost :(

the other 2 options look very good, will have to see if i can integrate the scythe fan controller into my G5 build without it looking crap, maybe just have it sitting inside the case or as a panel on the side of the case and make a aluminum plate for it to match.

thanks a lot for the info :)

I would go for the MCP655(D5) because the D5 has a higher rate of flow while some models of the DDC (3.2 & 3.25) have much higher max head pressure. If you have a very short, low restriction loop, the D5 should be a decent choice. If you have a longer loop or a loop with a fair bit of restriction, a DDC would likely be a better choice.

The reason for the after market tops for the DDC is to improve the flow rate which usually comes at the expense of some of the head pressure. The reason for the tops for the D5 are just the opposite, we want to improve the head pressure at the expense of some of the flow but, only the EK V2 top for the D5 currently does this. Most other D5 tops, are just allow users to use the fittings of their choice because they actually perform worse than the stock top.;)

thanks MameFX, the end aim of my build will contain 3 double pass 240 rads a GPU and CPU block mabey chipsets.
i think the 350 or 355 pressure will be needed, but the main aim is being quiet and i am still undecided between the pumps. i think what ever pump i get i will be happy, but i am trying to get the best out of it :)

i am guessing you are using the D5, what do you think of the noise on setting 2/3/4 and what is the performance difference between them?

Thanks

My d5 has 5 settings and i have it on number 4(default)...i cannot hear it tbh,the only thing i hear is my GPU fan when i crank it up to 65% when im gaming.

Edit:Tbh performance wise in the settings depends on how much you overclock, thing is going from setting 2-4 is no difference in sound really so i just leave it on 4.
