Literally nothing I could do... I had to buy the Canon 17-55mm and a 40D. Upgrading from my 450D and kit lens.

Don't you just hate it when this happens?

Very expensive, I'm trying to get hold of a 17-55 2.8 and a 70-200 L4 although it's expensive the lens do seem to hold value for a good few years.

Still kicking myself I forgot to bid on a 70-200 L 2.8 IS USM that went for £700 yesterday morning. It was not old and came with reciepts :(

I got the 17-55 2.8 w/. lens hood for £630. A few months old. A little more than I wanted to pay...but like I said, what can you do?

So expensive my choice is either a house deposit or new camera equipment. :p

I haven't actually thought about it like that....but if i carry my gear into most cars, the value of said car doubles when i get in.

Or I could trade it all in for a nice second hand Polo/Golf.

Thats not bad really.

Although I paid £550 for mine new 2 years ago :o

Yes I like looking at the graphs on the camera price comparison site and see how they have all risen so much with the pounds weakness since 2008.

Before I choose my 50D over the 550 I read a post on talkphotography that said the good thing was the 50 had been out a while so had taken the big hits in price while the 550 would continue dropping as it was so new.

When you look at the price graph on the 550 you can see how true that is, the price is still plummetting.

When you look at some of those price graphs it makes you wish you had timed your purchases better like the best price on EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM is £900 and currently it's about £1400 :D

I have both those lenses and they sell for far more than I paid quite a while back, probably sell them for no less/small profit if I need to.

Can't beat quality glass :)

Selling: Sigma 150mm f2.8 APO EX DG HSM Macro Canon Fit

Why can't you be using Nikon equipment :D £550 I'll be shelling out to get one. Tempted to get a D90 instead to replace my D70. Though I've already spent 340 in the past few weeks on a 50mm f/1.4D & Kenko Extension tubes :(

Think I'll rent it first for a week or so, see what it's like...

So you should be! Just found the auction and you're right - that's a stunning price!

I can beat that; I paid 500 for mine last march and then sold it recently for 580! A year of quality glass which ended in profit :D:cool:

I'll beat that - paid £500 for mine *this* March :) (cheers Khaaan :D )
