Lucky Brit Scoops Highest UK Lottery Win

You'll be lucky to get that kinda gain at the moment.
a bit over 2%?

oof, just checked Coutts current interest rates and the best you'll get is just over 2%. So it isn't far off feasible, but I didn't realise their rates had dropped quite that low.

Buy Government bonds? I hear Greece is offering good returns at the moment. :)

The thing is, say you won £87 million, your friends and family are very likely to know. So... how much do you give them?

A million to your best friend? Five million? What would be an insultingly small ammount, given you won 87?
Then again, if you give someone a million quid, and they think 'Is that all?' then they probably aren't that great a friend.

Hmm I have not checked my ticket yet (lucky dip) and it is sitting on my desk. I'm too scared to look :O

I don't put a money value to my friends and family group. Instead of giving them money I would just make sure my closest friends and family were well looked after and I'd make sure that my parents of them all had the easiest life from that day onwards.

No idea what kind of reaction you would have to be told: you have won 84million...

I would be of to OZ :D

Lets just say that if they still stamped your passport whatever country you went to, I would need to get the larger 48 page version ;) :)

I doubt I would return "home" for a good 1-2 years (save for important stuff)

Where's the gutter press now saying "we never win anything...."

I'm sure there was a story a couple of years back complaining about it.

I probably would stick £85mil in the bank/bonds/investments.

Spend £1mil buying a house for my family, a nice car for them and one for me, pay all the bills for a few years. Give whatever's left to charity.

I'd try very hard not to let anyone know just how much I won.

But I'd also be generous with it, helping people via charities etc.

Would have to build up a serious car collection of random cars that I've liked over the years (likely nothing very expensive).

Might try donating to the Labour party and snag myself a peerage! (hoho)

I'd probably travel, set up my own business with a lavish residence and invest a reasonable amount in space exploration and biosciences.

I'd give a good few million to both parents and grandparents too, and invest in my local community.

I'd just pretend I'd won a few million on the lottery, or something...
that's always been my plan, however much I won, keep it completely quiet until I could pass it off as having won a smaller prize, either jackpot or otherwise.
