Ok threads been done to death , i have never had an iphone , but had a look at a few and the phone blew me away with the games and stuff , and os 4 should improve things even more , i have the g1 my contract is due for renewal , or desire or iphone ? to me the desire is just going to be a faster g1 but the iphone seems to be much more diverse and have better support.
android phones keep changing specs etc but iphone 3gs apps seems to be highly optimized ? i am also getting 2 ipads , so should i go for 3gs rather than the desire , i dont just want a faster g1 ........ i can go to xda to get that ;p

if your going iphone atleast wait to see whats coming in the next few months.
Desire will always be a good choice and upgradeable especially with froyo coming soon

yet another person who's set on an iphone and will more than likely get an iphone regardless of what the replies are, making a 'should I get an iphone or ...' thread.

do you really need 2 i pads?

I made a thread like that, got a desire and am VERY glad I didn't get the iPhone :)

no i dont but my wife needs on to .... and its not a case of i will get an iphone , i havent had one ever , so although it may be "old" to you guys its "new " to me ? i have had a g1 for 2 years now nealry , i want something different to android , and the desire just to me looks like a faster g1 thats that a asked .....

If you want games I expect the iPhone is better, android are pretty dire but the iPhone will be more expensive, the desire is cheaper and much more customizable but more complicated

IPhone
Better games and apps
More expensive
Easier to setup, usable straight out of the box
Every app will work with it
MUCH better multi media player especially music

Desire
Cheaper
App store is hit or miss but gaining momentum
Vast array of customization/more unique to individual
Poor music player
Rapid development.. may overtake iPhone (apps and firmware wise) sooner rather than later
Games are very weak

That's my summation... I went desire but wish it had a better music player and sound quality

Seems like you've already made up your mind by saying you want something different to android.. :p

been awhile since I read your thread, but from what I recall it didn't sound like you had your heart set on the iphone unlike some of the people who have created these threads.

rippling I've not had a g1(only briefly played with one when they first came out, was thinking about getting one but ended up with the touch hd), but I don't think the desire is just a faster desire(for 1 the g1 has a slide out keypad while the desire doesn't :) ).

didn't mean to sound rude in my last post, it just sounds like from what you wrote that you're all set on the iphone.

I personally went for the desire as I have an ipod touch and my dad as an iphone 3g, I wanted something different and from all I read the desire sounded like the best option.

as has been said in many other threads wait till the new iphone has been actually announce with the specs etc then decide, only a couple of months to go if the previous iphones are anything to go by.

I'm not sure anyone 'needs' an iPad.

This. But if you've decided on one then fair enough - from personal experience using one in an Apple Store, they're very nice.

Don't forget that you can share apps between iPad and iPhone - so if you're getting one anyway that's some justification for the other (depending on how much you think you'll spend on apps, obviously).

I had an iPhone 3G and didn't see the point in upgrading to the 3Gs. And i wanted to see what the 4th Gen was, altho we already have a pretty good idea.

And altho i love the look of the new iPhone, i just want to do more with my phone (Im not into playing games on a phone) but i was going to wait for the iPhone release but i caved today and orderd a Desire lol.

The only problem i have with the Android market is how hard it is to find decent apps. With you having the option to install apps not on the market i don't see why google dont have an approval process like Apple to have the best APPs in the market. But with how it is ATM you want an APP, you have to google around to find a decent app for it or you end up downloading 10 from the market intill you find a decent one

I`ll think you`ll find its a case of its a different kettle of fish to the apple app store. Its not going to be the same, nor have the same apps (and not for some time to come) Logically if you want apps that are on apple store, you go for a iphone.

It does have the same apps, why wouldn't it? =\

It's just the quality of the apps are mainly poor and look ugly.

Like take IM+ for iPhone and Android. It looks fugly on Android. But MSN Talk is a lot nicer so i use that instead

Who said i wanted that? lol.

Im saying the Apple store produces better stuff, or it seems that way because you dont have to shuffle threw all the rubbish.

I said if google had an app screening process like Apple it would make the Market better.

And APP's that dont get in can always host them on there own sites

No question apple apps are better. Android has a way to go. I just hope for the sake of mankind, everyone doesnt become a iclone, all wandering about using their bloody iphone.
