Half Life 2 texture corruption

Has anyone got a quick fix for this -

I tried validating the half life 2 game from steam but it reports back fine. Don't want to re-install unless I have to because of the saved games.

Specs are I5 2.67ghz , 8800gts 512, Vista 64, 4mb memory.

Playing with most settings on high, 1920 x 1080 res.

Can't really see it being a setting problem though due to the fact its just certain peoples head textures being corrupted. Everything else is fine.

No mods installed , straight download from steam.

Try updating graphics drivers and then do a full defrag.

If neither work, delete local content and reinstall, you can just copy your saves to another location before you do this and copy them back after, however, if you do reinstall, test it out before putting the save files back.

Sorry to ask an obvious question, but is this a recurring issue? Have you ruled out temp issues?

It's a known texture issue - missing textures are replaced by pink checkerboard.

If Steam is reporting your files as validated, then unfortunately you need to delete local content and reinstall
