Lucky Brit Scoops Highest UK Lottery Win

Worth £30mil, and having £30mil in cash to open up an account with are VERY different things.

From what I remember she's invested quite wisely and probably has, like many other people a lot of that money, if not almost all of it, tied up in various houses and properties. You could easily be worth £30mil total but only have £1mil cash on hand, if a big bank prefers to deal with people that keep accounts of 10mil + that won't help.

In reality, I'd put a decent chunk of it into buying property, I'm sure there are some people who are VERY good at advising where and what kind of property is the least likely to devalue(which is probably more important than the most chance of massively inflating in value), a decent chunk into starting various business and put , well, £50k in every single bank, have some bonds in various foreign banks, some money in Chinese banks, some in American, a little in a few of the tax havens.

It sucks getting 3 numbers and one bonus number, and getting £22.60, it would be so much better if the Jackpot was like, £60million and everything from 3 numbers + one bonus was worth significantly more. They paid out a total of 2.3mil for people who got 2 + one bonus, but less than 2mil total for anyone that got anything from 3 +1, up to 4+2. They could treble all those winnings and still only pay out £6mil, the jackpot would still have been over £80million.

With the new changes to capital taxation, those with second houses are going to get stung for 40-50% rather than the ~25% now. Add to that you don't get any relief if you're selling to reinvest in a house elsewhere (ie changing for portfolio strategy).

Question is - would it cause you to emigrate if you won 100M?

Has it been claimed yet or do they just know its a ticket somewhere in the uk?

If I checked a ticket and found out I won that amount I would probably throw up. Then go to Asda and buy some beer and a curry and Bluray and sit at home.

Wake up next day, call Lotter HQ and get them to confirm the ticket then get my best mate to drive me there. Depending on how and when the money get banked, on the way back stop off at lots of car showrooms and buy whatever my mate wants. Get home, tell my girlfriend, call my brother and sister and my other real friend. Get them to all come to my house and come up with a plan.

Intotal only 5 people that are in my life will benefit from my winnings in a way that they will never have to work or worry about money ever again.

I would probably offer enough money to my ex missus to see her comfy, eg; pay of her debts give her enough to live on while still holding a job of some sort. BUT only on one condition, she gives me Dexter back (the Working yellow Labrador we used to have together) now I would have time to look after him as I wont be working ever again.

Not sure how I would set up my two mates and bro and sis. Probably clear all debts for them, let them choose a motor each and transfer maybe £5000 into their bank accounts each month. That way they will still have to use the money to pay mortgage, run the cars, pay the normal bills. This I would think would give them easily £3800 per month to use however they see fit. At least I would know they wont blow £1m on crap. They would have to still manage the money I transfer. They would live very comfy for the rest of thier lives.

As for me......:p:D God knows...

I'd buy a house for myself, and a car, and a pc, and all kinds of things. Prolly spend about 1m doing that.

Then I'd give 1m to each of my 4 uncles. And another 2m to my mum.

Then I'd spam the rest accross various bank accounts / investments. I'd prolly get about 5m worth of gold. I'd prolly put about 10mil into buying shares of businesses.

Still have not checked my ticket ¬_¬

Ur round next said:
This is the car i would buy

Why an R8? too flashy and common among rich people!

A 2010 model Porsche 911 Turbo would be much better although at £119 for the standard model but that wouldn't matter a single bit :p.

On a more serious note, if I won a millions on the lottery this is what I'd do.

Pack important papers/details like passport and birth certificate etc, bills etc, the whole lot that refers to me and my family, and important personal affects from around the house and go put them in one of those 24/7 storage units.

Then should my house be ransacked (for whatever reason :p ) I'd be happy knowing nothing about me personally was in the house, and nothing that means of any value to me.

Secondly, straight to the Hilton (or similar) for all of my family for an undetermined time while it is sorted.

Go to the lottery HQ to sort details, then head to estate agent in an area we like and buy 2/3 houses for us till I sort the money out etc....

Then begin my life as a big time p.i.m.p. Big furry purple coat and hat, dripping in gold......*

Yeah!

*last part may not be true. :p

a lot of money in all honesty...wouldnt know where to start other than give a few mill to each of my brothers...fix up my house and sell it...then get the hell out of this country and go somewhere where i can live/lead a relaxing life without ever having to work again.

I would buy a big house in a leafy part of London, Loughton, Epping forest or a really nice part of Richmond. Have an apartment in Tokyo, Docklands and Hong Kong.

I would set up my gf family for life, and pay off all my debts (including mortgage) of members of my close family. But not more than that. I have no real friends so i'm not dumb enough to set them up (puzzled as to why so many people here are dumb enough to even tell your friends)

But the most important thing is i would never tell them the true amount i won, i would only say i won 1-2 million, that's it. Only my gf (who i would marry a few months down the line) would know the true amount, i trust her completely, because she fell deepy in love with me even when i was in debt and very overweight.

I would:
Obsessively check to make sure I still had the ticket on my person until the money arrived in my account.
Buy loads of chocolate from M&S
New PC
New phone
Couple of expensive new suits and other casual clothes.
Put the rest away in some combination of property and savings (subject to expert advice)
Carry on living as normal save the occasional impulse buy :)

If I won this much, providing I survived the shock this would be what I would do:
1. Pay off debts
2. Buy a large bit of land in a nice area and have a massive house built.
3. Go shopping for many many supercars
4. Live the dream untill it either kills me or skints me
5. Give Mickey Carrol or what ever his name a few million for the lulz
6. Probably wouldn't get this far

Pay off my all my debt and family, donate a lot to charity, donate a fair amount to my university and student union, buy a lot of property and discover the rest of the world :)

I find it strange that they can't tell what location the ticket was bought from or what store even, surely the machines send this data to Camelot? Should REALLY check my ticket at some point today :p If it's me then I will Fudderwhack vigorously in the middle of the road!
