I'm in Stafford and it happens in Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco, Co-op and the Spar, but not in any of the Stafford pubs. Is anyone else getting this (Stafford or elsewhere), and how old are you? I'm not complaining, just interested, and I take it as a compliment :-) With me being 14½ stone though, they can surely know that I'm 18+ :-P

my 17 year old step son and his 16-17 year old friends all go out clubbing in newcastles city centre and aparently 9 our of 10 clubs dont even ask for ID theres a quiet pub they goto aswell where most of them can get served.

yet adults go to morrisons etc and get ID'ed even though its obvious they are more than old enough

to me it apears these challenge "stupid" crap dont seem to be working

Some places have a policy that forces them to ask everyone for ID even if they're obviously over 18.

I'm 24, get ID'd everywhere, even if I'm only buying pro-plus.

Don't mind it but it's a little bit ridiculous when on a Friday at 5:30pm I'm buying bread, milk, few other bits and 4 beers I get ID'd. Or even in Asda doing a £150 shop with the missus they question age for a few beers or a bottle of vodka. Would someone really spend £150 just to get a bit of booze?

How many under-18's would bother to buy groceriesto get 4 bottles of beer :/

Grow a beard.

I'd say supermarkets it's 1 out of 2 times I get ID'd.

Pubs, bars, clubs it's about 1 in 10.

I'm 22 and look about that and it doesn't really bother me. They do seem to be stupidly strict in supermarkets though.

I'm also 31 and still get ID'd...clubs, bars, supermarkets, it's frustrating but flattering. I'd say I look around 22/23 shaved, 25-27 with a few days growth.

I get ID'd most times, although I bought 48 cans of cider yesterday and didn't get ID'd, I'm 22.

What annoys me the most about being ID'd is when you get ID'd going in somewhere, then they ID you again at the bar? Either believe what your door staff judge to be overage people, or don't bother having them ID people on the way in, lol.

I'm 27 and I've never been ID'd in my life. :o Yes, I purchase alcohol and cigarettes on a regular basis btw. I just look old I suppose. Being 6' 5" probably helps.

How does the day, or time or other items you're buying have any relevance?

So 17 years can buy beer as long as they buy bread as well, and it's in the evening? Don't teenagers consume bread or milk?

Or even in Asda doing a £150 shop with the missus they question age for a few beers or a bottle of vodka. Would someone really spend £150 just to get a bit of booze?

So it's not possible for a 17 year old to to buy £150 of groceries with another person? Unlikely, but it's still possible so that's why they ID.

We need pictures babyface!

I don't get ID anymore, which is nice. But if someone asked for it, I'm more than happy to oblige, just doing their job.

The issue here is, they say on signs at the shops ''anyone under 20 should have their id ready and id required to identify themselves when buying alcohol or tobacco'', but I'll be 20 in 11 months and I'm pretty sure they will still ask me then and still not give me 16...
