Still getting ID'd at 31

Got into the 18+ section of the Eurogamer Expo last year with a mate of mine who WAS 18 at the time, and I was 17. Got denied at the entrance, some security dude on the side however let us through a side entrance cos I blagged that my mate looked too young but was definitely 18.
And I was the younger one har har.

I mean jeez, Left 4 Dead 2 is only a 15 anyway.

Tell me about it, I am 24 and get it all the time. It is getting ridiculous.

Why are drunk adults less likely to commit crime than kids anyway. An IQ test would be a better idea.

my 17 year old step son and his 16-17 year old friends all go out clubbing in newcastles city centre and aparently 9 our of 10 clubs dont even ask for ID theres a quiet pub they goto aswell where most of them can get served.

The odd weekend or so i end up in these places, and i tend to rage

That said i tend to go to fancy places, and they rarely ask you for ID (mabye never? not seen it once), because very few young people (17-19) want to go and pay £8 for a drink.

I get annoyed at this because I don't drive because I get the bus and I don't own a passport because I don't go on holiday. I don't no any other ways to prove who I am. I wanted the ID scheme to go ahead but it never in the end. I am 25 and get ID'd now and again and because of the above two factors I can't prove who I am and I don't get served. I feel as though I am the one been victimized here because they don't offer many methods for identification.

These days IQ tests will mean nothing because you get stupid adults too. lol

Get your provisional license then....

Don't you have an ID obligation in the UK ? Here everyone from 14 and up always has to carry an ID card, passport or driver's license :(. If you are checked by the police and you can't produce one you get a 50€ fine :(.

Why should I?

To buy alcohol? If you look young and don't have ID, you aren't buying alcohol in a major store, it's their rules, abide by them or stop complaining.

Nothing like that no, but I wish there was! Theres a suggestion for the new goverment for this year me thinks!

We all should carry ID just so you can buy alcohol without having to get another form of ID?

Who said I was complaining, if you call that complaining your wrong don't judge.

The big major stores don't fully provide a solution for ID schemes, infact they don't care.

Yes, we should be given a form of ID every single UK person. My tax should pay for it I pay enough tax to start with to get turned away because I might not look 18, I pay enough tax as it is. I work, pay tax so what's it gotto do with anyone else what I choose to do or don't do for that matter of fact. Their policy or not, I pay goverment tax I should not be penalized.

What I am saying is why should I pay to prove who I am when I am over 18 to buy alcohol, not breaking any law in the process. I don't have to drive therefore I don't what a provisional driving licence or full. Don't have to go on holiday for a passport but I don't want one eitha.

All I want is my tax to pay for an ID scheme not me. I am been penalized just because I don't want to go on holiday or I don't want to drive. Pathetic.

I just carry the photo-ID card from my driving licence in my wallet (without which I won't be buying bugger-all anyway), and being 26 take it as a compliment when asked.

32 here and always have this problem myself and this in places that don't ask everyone, only yesterday I was asked while purchasing a 4 pack of beer and she was only about 25 years old, I suppose it should be taken as a complement but it can get annoying at times when I don't have ID on me.

No, and neither we should!

Optitech, you've got two choices either stump up for a provisional/passport or not get served on the odd occasion.
Just because you don't drive or fly abroad doesn't mean that the rest of us should be forced to carry ID cards with us at all times!!

I can see where your coming from but because I don't drive or fly I am the one been pushed down the ladder, which is unfair. There should be more ID schemes available for us all. We are been categorized badly. When it's NOT me who is breaking the law in any occasion. Only policy, which they fail to provide ID schemes.

Solution? What? What's the problem to begin with? The major stores accept a wide range of photographic ID cards.

Just because you pay taxes doesn't mean you are entitled to anything. The stores you are talking about aren't run by the Government so it doesn't matter what, if any taxes you pay. Besides, you're in the majority, most people would rather the money be spent elsewhere, and this is a democracy, so you lose out.

What I am saying is why should I pay to prove who I am when I am over 18 to buy alcohol

Because alcohol has an age limit.

There are plenty.
