Not that much considering our debt is probably in the £trillion range with all the off-book stuff.

You're being fairly naive here.
Debt gets more expensive the more you borrow. The money could have been used to convert our higher yielding debts.
The existing debt is not so much of a problem right now - it is our deficit, requiring us to keep buying the more and more expensive bonds to add to the top of our debt pile.
The money could have been used to help alleviate a good chunk (at least 5%) of two years worth of deficit, assuming no other cuts.

My post was specifically in response to Jonnybmac's assertion that it would make a noticeable different to our debt.

The money I invest brings in far more revenue than the VAT I don't pay. Though why I should support a country that criminalises me I don't know.
Only unfair ones, which makes up for me taking out private healthcare.

It isn't up to you to decide what is fair and what isn't. It isn't up to you to decide how much you need to contribute.
If you are not happy with being a citizen in the country, you should leave - not bask in its public services and society whilst evading your own contributions.
I will do as my conscience dictates, I am not paying vat for a product manufactured in another country which has nothing to do with the UK. I am in the process of moving out to a more liberal country which doesn't have such ridiculous laws.

OP seems like a Labour fanboy! Maybe he should consider all the lies and half-truths that his Labour government perpetuated in the decade of decadent mismanagement we have just seen the end of.
I'm happy paying 20% VAT to be honest. It's a fair tax compared to the dozens of sneak taxes aimed at the working man that Labour have introduced.
Although I always preferred direct taxation so I know where I stood when I opened my wage slip, the previous Labour Government has changed all this with their benefits giveaway. I now prefer the idea of indirect taxes so at least the only people doing better under the Labour Government (and I hate putting a capital "G" there), people on benefits, pay more taxes too.

I am considered a criminal because of ridiculous laws labour have brought in on a variety of (non tax related) subjects so technically yes. Though it says little about me when a country has such ludicrous laws.
The british businesses and thus taxpayers will miss my money though.

Dammit, of course people with skills, innovation, talent and hard work should be taxed so hard that they leave these shores permanently so average working Joes like me have to pay disproportionatley more to keep the lazy, scrounging, layabouts that your Labour government is so sweet on...

EU will not fall because of Greece , its like saying the UK will collapse because Sunderland city went bust . It will never happen , it might happen for a million other serious reasons
WRT council tax, remember that the vast majority doesn't go to the local council (haven't read the whole thread so not sure if this has been mentioned, but it should have been!), it goes to the fire/police services and other council services (for example part of my council tax goes to the county council not our borough council, the ones that actually do the day to day running of things).
