Don't go too crazy with the volts when you start off. If it doesn't POST / boot up when you're at a certain FSB just up the voltage a little then try again. :)

Look in the huge Q6600 overclocking thread and see what other people have do with it at low overclocks and just do the same. You've got a good board and great RAM so they won't cause you any problems.

Hmm I might have ago :)

If you're uncertain, try just starting out small. There are a lot of 'safe' overclocks you can do, although they're very small, and vary between processors. For example, with my 9950 I could just bump up the multiplier ever-so-slightly to raise it from 2.6GHz to 2.8GHz. Once I started seeing things working, it stopped seeming like a really hard thing to do and I felt more comfortable with trying the little things here and there. Still waiting until I've got room to set up my 'spare' computer to give it a proper go, mind you :p

I've had my PC for 2 and a half years running at 4ghz and I still don't know how to overclock it properly, never had the clock skews and GTL Refs set correctly. It'd take weeks to find the right one, weeks of constant testing.

I would have to hop on a train over there, but that's no problem. It would just depend on when I'm free and when you want/need the help. :p

My usual response would be along the lines of "grow up", but this is GD.

:(

Hey i take exception to the GD comment! :D I very rarely pop by here.

I should have elaberated.

I wasn't getting at the second line quoted in an immature fashion but just the manchester bit. From your earlier posts saying "oh i can just hop on a train, its no hassle!" and then to add that your actually from manchester!

Nevermind..i didn't mean to cause offence genuinely! I wasn't having a dig at you at all.

Going to Wrexham from Manchester, only cause it's a girl I bet, if it was a guy asking for advice I bet no one would do such a commute.

Nevermind..i didn't mean to cause offence genuinely! I wasn't having a dig at you honestly.

I wasn't offended, my comment was not serious at all (although I did misunderstand entirely)! :p

Anything less than 100 miles is no hassle. It's not like I actually do much with my time at the moment (not that we'll be going in to that). :(

You'd be surprised. I've traveled further to help guys set up Linux properly on their computers. :)

For 100 miles and the time of overclocking a Q6600 and making sure it's stable I'd want about 150 quid worth of Chinese.

Do they do Michelin star Chinese?

Well if I was gonna do 100 miles, they'd have to be a Michelin star restaurant around to pay for costs:p

I have a big appetite, I'd probably need about 20 course to fill me up :D
