Mitsibushi GTO/GT3000 Twin Turbo

Anyone owned one of these? Ive wanted one for years for a very stupid reason (I completed gran tourismo 3 in one lol they upgrade to over 1kbhp in the game

)

Basically im not expecting much from an early nineties sports car but a nice one shouldnt set me back much probably <2k for the 3l V6 twin turbo taxed and tested.

Opinions?

Firstly I'd want to pay more than that for a much better example.

Secondly, expect big running costs

running costs is not an issue i run a diesel mondy for day to day this is a toy

Lovely looking cars but very complex and a lot of potential to cost lots of money should something go wrong. They have an electronically adjustable spoiler if I remember right which is very expensive to fix I've heard.

ive heard it mostly doesnt work lol but i dont mind the work, there are repair kits and chips available etc, like i said its to be a toy not anything ill rely on

Well running costs are still an issue, if it breaks and requires big time work the fact you dont need it every day doesnt mean it's going to get fixed for free

If it's just a toy and you are fully aware of the costs and complex nature of the car then go ahead I say. I'd love one.

I'd be looking at something less lardy and heavy as a "toy" compared to a GTO, no matter how much I still love the things. Running costs as mentioned are v. high, ECU failures can write cars off!

big, heavy and slow and comes with a free chest wig. My mate had one a few years ago. I could pull away from him in my Single Turbo r33 GTS-T.

Maybe he was a cack driver though.........still woudn't get one.....

A decent GTO is certainly not slow in a straight line!

interesting opinions. when i say running costs arent an issue it would need to >1k per month for me to sweat it.

What alternatives would people suggest for maximum bhp in the sub 5k 'toy' range?

I think I'd rather have a Supra if I was going to throw a massive pile of cash at running some early 90's Jap stuff.

The Supra is more iconic IMO, instantly recognisable, amazing road presence, much better looking

the body kitted and sprts ones are not too sure about the stock looks. Problem is looking around a good one is much nearer 10k which will need some more saving lol

If I was buying a Supra it would have to be a totally standard fresh import from somewhere like 200BHP cars, Torque GT or another trustworthy importer

It would also have to be manual and TT. Ah i'm dreaming now

Because its a Supra. The GTO is unloved and is simply another generic Japanese coupe. The Supra is iconic - probably undeservedly so but you could spend a load of time and effort fiddling with a Supra and it would just seem... more worth it, somehow.

You can't mention the GTO and Supra in a thread without someone mentioning the Mazda RX-7. It's just wrong not to!
