Was that question to me? If so, I paid £400 for the bike, which I personally think is a steal given it's spec and the fact it was fitted with 0 mile Reba race forks

The colour is called Rootbeer I believe.

Can anyone tell me what year my bike is? I seem to think it will be a 07 or 08 model?

That's quite a deal you got there. Loving the colour too :)

Yeah, when I saw it on bikeradar I gave the seller a call and after a brief chat I basically said that if the bike was in the condition as described, I'd be there in the amount of time it takes to fill a car up and drive 200 miles :p

Very pleased with it, although I think I may put some tyres that roll a bit better on to see how much better it is on tarmac with them.

That really is a sexy bike mate.

What rise are the Monkey bars? And which of the many Fox forks are those?

hey guys. just wondering if anyone on here knows of anywhere decent to ride in and around Bristol.
At the moment, spend most of my time either at ashton court or leigh woods, and on the weekends head over into Wales to head to cwmcarn and avan trail centres.

does anyone know of any other trail centres nearby or could recommend any great rides nearby

Cheers for any help

Ok so i have given myself a bit of a bonus over the next month or two and am now looking at full sussers.

What are the opinion on the KHS bikes?

Cheers

Andy

Lovely bike mate. What grips are those? I've been looking for some just like that but with a blue trim?

They're ODI Rogue, they do all sorts of colour collars.

They're the low rise (20mm) version and the forks are as above, Fox 32 Float RLC QR15.

Thanks again to all who helped with my cable length, ive shortened them by a big margin, stilll have a healthy curve to them in each direction of the bars, and also full turning left to right :) looks soo much better and no cable running on my fork crown now :D bonus.

DMR's, Wellgo's or SPD's folks?.

I have M520 SPD's on my Cube Acid just now, have been riding roadbikes for years using Ultegra 6620 SPD's so when I got the Cube I didn't even think - Just fitted SPD's to it. Having done some off roading now though I'm not so sure about the clipping in and out thing.

Has anyone gone from SPD's to something like V8's or V12's and absolutely not looked back since?. I know I should probably just try a pair of Wellgo V8 copies and see but I was interested in opinions. :)

I started on flats, switched to SPDs, decided they were the work of Satan himself, then switched back to flats. Wellgos atm.

Seems to be a lot of people switching over at the moment. Some people just don't get on with them.

I'm undecided. The M520's are easy enough to clip in and out of, I've backed them off a good bit adjustment wise. And as I said, I'm well used to them having ridden for years on the road with them.

I like the secure feeling they give when you are on the move but so far the only trouble I have had is when on steep climbs that get really twisty. At slow speed when the bike falls to one side during this I clip out and have to stop, faff about and clip back in and then move off again which mucks up any momentum you had. If I had flats I think I would be better just putting a foot down to regain balance and then continuing pedaling off again. That said, I'm a newbie MTB'er and I suppose in time I would get used to slow turns on climbs in conjunction with the SPD's.

I think I'll grab an inexpensive pair of Wellgo's online somewhere and give them a bash. I can easily switch back again if required.

Looking at the DMR V8's and V12's, what is the difference between the two?. Price obviously!!. Do the V12's have a larger surface area or something?.

I have flats on my DH/FR bike, but use spd's on my two XC bikes.

This. My stinky has V8s and all my other bikes are clipless.
IMO, the better efficiency outweighs the occasional extra bail.
After a while you dont even need to think about getting your foot out, it just happens even when you have a wobble and need to get it out fast.

AFAIK: v8s have loose bearings and v12s have cartridge bearings. Both pedal bodies are the same size but v12s have more replaceable pins.
