OK I need some help as I am stuck here. I think I am going insane...I really do.

My Windows home server has been running fine for the past 18 months spec below.

E5400
3GB Crucial Ballistix
Asus P5Q
ATI X300 GFX
Corsair 400w PSU
4x2 TB Segates with a 160GB WD boot drive

I turned off the power and shut it down as I was having some electrical work done on the house. After a few days I switch on the WHS and all the drives spun up. The fans started spinning but I got nothing on screen.

After building 100's of PC's I removed everything that wasn't needed for boot.

1 HDD
1 Stick of ram
swapped GFX card for a known working one

But still nothing.

So I swapped the mobo for another one that worked

Nothing on screen

I swapped the cpu for a working one

Nothing on screen

I swapped the PSU out of my working i7 rig and

Nothing on screen

So Now I have a bits in front of me that

a: has a new chip
b: New mobo with onboard GFX
c: new PSU

So I am stuck.

Its virtually all different components but I get nothing on screen. I tested the two TFT's on my i7 rig....they work fine.

I am completely miffed..

when I remove all ram the PC beeps but I get nothing on screen. I have tried the VGA/DVI outputs nothing.

I have hit a brick wall and in all my experience I am stuck

Remove HDD, clear bios and then boot. See if you get into the bios?

I have had a problem twice in the past on 24/7 machines that a periodic reboot simply fails...experimentation has shown that the HDD connected to that machine will simply stop it from booting, though trying it on other PCs has shown it has no effect on some, but the same error on others. The HDDs have been used as secondary drives fine, but I cannot boot from them. You have probably tried this already so I apologise if so.

The only other element that is presumably the same s the case, is there grounding somewhere? Have tyou tried both the old and new mobos staning outside the case on an antistatic bag to see if they boot?

Just tired that

I removed the drive and removed the whole system from the case.

Nothing on screen

I changed the power adaptor on the monitor and used yet another cable...nothing.

so you have changed the mobo, cpu, and PSU...

Can you swap out RAM ( im sure you have tried this)

Have you tried different VGA leads!

A different HD or booting into puppy linux from USB

Have you got a DVM to test voltages from PSU

Have you got a board with onboard GPU to try!

I don't know mate just clutching at straws, don't give up!!

When you was getting the work done did you leave it plugged in??

Yeah mate

Changed mobo,ram,psu and chip

Tried 4 different VGA leads and tested them with my 24" dell

Chnaged HDD, tried no HDD

nothing on screen

tried 2 PSU's tried 2 different chips

One mobo has onboard VGA tried that nothing...tried 3 different GFX cards nothing

No I unplugged from my UPS and the wall.

I feel compelled to post pics

Why dont you just start with your known working mobo, gfx, stick and confirm they work together. Then just swap parts onto that mobo.

Try confirming some things in the suspect machine - everything but the mobo, to leave till last - are alive first.

Edit: You also never tend to get "nothing on screen". You get "no input signal" "no cable connected" yada. Sorry for getting basic :)
Edit2: Just noticed you've tested a 2nd monitor.

I have tried every combination of parts for the past couple of days. :(

Yeah no input signal is what I am getting,

From all GFX cards and mobos
From onboard GFX on mobo 2
and same from 3 GFX on mobo2 with on board GFX top override onboard GFX

I want to cry

I have stopped drinking but this is driving me to DRINK!

We will know once he gets all the other known working bits together up and running it situ at the 'repair site' ;)

Not sure how what I can do now without trying another Brand new mobo

The 6300 chip works (tested in another PC)
The ram works error free (tested in another PC)
The PSU is from my working i7 rig which will be installed back in a couple of hours
The monitors work as I have tested them on my i7 rig. I also tested the 24" Dell on these two

Nothing.

I bought this mobo from MM and will be miffed if its a dud.

I am willing to send the mobo out to someone I can trust to test it for me entirely at my cost.

Just to prove to myself I am not going bonkers.

Can you try it in a different room? Perhaps a silly idea but worth a go, I remember a thread on here saying some surge protected gang leads for three pin plugs were dodgy, are you using one of those?

have you checked the wall socket or tried it in a different one ? you said you were getting electrical work done so maybe theres a fault and your getting dirty power

Tried it in my cinema room going through my UPS

Nothing

Heres another pic of my testing with 24" Dell

Tried 8 sticks of ram and 3 GFX cards 2 PSU's and 2 chips

Cleared CMOS on both mobos and removed battery for 4hrs

Nothing

If the only part thats not working here is the original board, then you've got your answer.
