ive posted a couple of threads talking about this just before but i finally decided on a mobo and bought it, i wanted to check if its good for a folding set up and what cpu/ memory would be good, ive already decided that i will be either running 8800/9800's not sure wether im going to buy the zotac 9800gt's from here yet.

The mobo is the MSI P6N DIAMOND

Also wanted to check what psu would be reccomended for up to 4 9800gt's?

That motherboard will be fine for a folding rig, think it was recommended in custom PC before christmas. As for powering the four 9800GT's, depending on which version of the GT you are going for i'd suggest not skimping on a power supply. To run it 24/7 your gonna want something with a good name, quite a few, 800+ watts and enough connections.

It is a bit expensive, but the 850 watt version won't have enough 6 pin power connectors I don't think, unless you use adaptors. As for the amps, 78 should be enough for those cards, and 950 watts should be plenty for the system as a whole.

Fair do's, if its the green edition your going for then you probably would be fine with the 850. Not sure on the wattage draw on the greens though, if its like the 5670's (bus powered) then they draw quite a lot, I was suprised considering they have no external power requirment.

kk thanks for replies, i have a new question now, i can get two bfg 8800 gts of the bay for around £80, would you reccomend going for that or a single gts 250? thanks.

the two 8800, a 250gts is just a rebranded 9800gt, which in turn is a refreshed 8800.

mad isn't it?

Tis a bit crazy, Nvidia have been a bit mad with their rebranding of names and such. For folding the two 8800's will be better

How are the Phenom II X6's at folding? It might be a better bet to get one of them on an AM3 board... like the MSI 790FX-GD70.

ive already got my gaming set up, and invested in the mobo for this build, problem is ive just gone into my flat/house savings to buy 3 8800 gtx's my fiance isnt very impressed but i bribed her by offering to buy her loads of holiday clothes and pay for her and a mare to go out next week. =D
