Saturday isn't it?

I would if I wasn't going out and if Wogan was still doing it!

Eurovision is a bit like when JFK got shot, you always remember where you where when you watched it. Well I do any way. :o

Will take my earphones out with me and stream it through my phone... :D

Or maybe not, 'cos I'm not that sad!

haven't they changed the voting back to the committees?

Before it was all phone voting which is why you got fins voting sweden etc as all the mixed marriages in border towns really ruined the whole show and since the UK is an island will very few expats who would bother voting for UK we have no chance.

However the BBC complained and now it's 50% phone 50% committee?

Euro what?

Dear oh dear.

This Saturday.

It started up back in the day when long-range high-quality broadcasting was new - so it was effectively the rich and affluent European countries coming together to show off their singing talent but almost more importantly, their TV broadcasting technology.

Of course as technology and development of the rest of Europe has improved, the contest has broadened - to include silly places like Russia! Since when was that Europe?

As a legacy of the founding of the Eurovision, somehow we Brits along with a few other nations have managed to secure a spot in the final (something I had forgotten in my OP) before even going through the semis. I'm trying to find out what the mechanism for this is...

...but I think the fact we've effectively 'pushed in', plus resentment of 'Western' Europe, anger over the Iraq war, and various other annoyances - mean that we get very poorly scored, even with good tunes (heh, 'good') - usually for political reasons.

That's one reason Terry gave up, I think I watched the last one he was involved with, and myyy he was upset! At the time he was fairly adamant we had a good strong song and was very angry it wasn't getting the recognition due to politics...

...personally I enjoy the politics bit! Go Azerbaijan!

It's not because of the history, it's because we (along with france, germany...) pay for most of it.
