Hi all,

I've just installed my hardware into a new case and fitted a new CPU cooler, since doing so only 4gb of my ram is usable.

Some people seem to say it could be down to the cpu needing to be re seated, or a bent pin on the mobo (hope not) but would I still be able to see all sticks and would it still run in triple channel mode?

Gonna take off the cooler and have a quick look under whilst I hope someone can shed light on this.

Thanks,
Jonny

Hmm first Gigabyte I have seen with this issue, but does seem to be a trend with i7 boards.

Never had an issue with bent pins on the 775 boards. My first i7 asus board is currently a door stop because of bent pins

Yup, it's a Gigabyte board, and I've no idea how it got bent!

It might have something to do with the fact that CPU's aren't secured in there sockets anymore (with the levers locking them in) so when I took the HSF off the processor was stuck to the bottom of it. Unless you pull the HSF off straight they are very easy to bend. Or I'm a complete noob who didn't realise you could leave the stock retention module in place.

I had to take the HSF off about 5-6 times to get the pins straight to get it working properly again, pain in the ass really.

Just running some Prime whilst watching Junior apprentice to make sure it hasn't knackered any stability.

EDIT: Processor is running hotter now, probably lost a bit of thermal compound with all the reseats! As I said I've reseated it many times already, one more won't hurt to add some TIM!
