Apple is now bigger than Microsoft

I thought this forum was full of young intelligent IT facing professionals who know technolody and where it is going.

That's why they know about windows.

like why the average mechanic will know about the piston engine not the rotary ****el engine

* seriously we can't say ****el engine?

hell even the pc games section dwarfs the combined mac/all apple products ever made forums.

Well I've used two Mac computers and encountered the Kernel Panic screen at least 10 times within a year of using them.

In the past 9 years of using PCs, I've had the BSOD less than 20 times.

Swings, roundabouts, horses, courses, here, there, etc.

Well here's one way of looking at it. When do you normally post about your computer? - be honest now.

When it's not working.

Not really most posts in both forums are "so how do i do this" and "can i do this".

And pc games is full of people saying "zomg check out ****" :D

After all if you apply your logic we only post in the life section because our lives are broken :p

How can anyone think microsoft is dying, They have very solid products and a huge user base, they have more to fear from Google than Apple.

Well put your hard earned cash in Microsoft then. See what you get back in 10 years.

I imagine he will be on what will still be the vastly popular PC platform running Windows <insert iteration> and playing the latest games whilst some tool belt is queuing outside a store for the latest enlarged rehash of the i<insertfeatureshortoverpricedgizmohere>.

I'd just like to make it clear at this point that I don't consider Apple to be bigger or more important than MS, or that they ever will be. I do consider however that they have huge sway among a large portion of the computing community and are very important in the way things go.

That they flourish with the iPhone and iPad despite abject their refusal to accept Flash proves this. They denounce one of the most popular and a lot would say influential ways to produce content, and they manage to force the industry to work around them.

They give consumers what THEY think the consumer should want, not what the consumer says they want, and despite vocal complaints, they sell a ****ton of gear.

Love them or hate them, they know how to do business. They pretty much bend the market around what they want to do, not the other way around, and not a lot of firms can do that.

I've no beef with MS, they make excellent products and will continue to hold the vast majority of the home computing market for the forseeable future, and the absolutely deserve their market share of console gaming.

I just personally prefer Apple stuff for PCs, phones and so on. I get why some don't, but I like them best.

The iPad is a big fat load of old steaming **** though and anyone that buys one is a ****ing fool. That said, I know that I'll go into work on Friday and we'll sell out our small allocation quick sharp.

It's not a case of prefer for most though it's a case of necessity.

You can't use a mac for what a lot of people use their pc for.
