Don't see how they're a fashion item, you buy the machine best suited to the job.
PC fanboys do shoot themselves in the foot, they won't face facts the IPOD is easily the cornerstone of good MP3 players.
It's light, quick, it has a simple easy to use interface, plenty of storage, it's well priced and surprisingly durable.
Pc's have their uses as do macs.
People like phones that are cool and functional these days, a lot of these users dont care about extra features or specs and arent bothered by the **** camera and silly upgrades apple tack on and hold back in order to introduce a significantly more expensive model a year down the line that competition had introduced a year before!
Price isn't an issue, I'm a heavy user so it was free on contract, the upgrades don't matter to me, the 3GS is noticably faster than the 3G though and video capability is also useful.
It's fast, has all the apps I need, decent satnav for one (The one on my N95 was rubbish), a reasonable amount of storage (Enough to hold a few weeks worth of music before I get bored). It's a good phone, only thing I can say I don't like is you can't swap out the battery.
Blackberry users, now they're the pretentious ones. Usually work a low end office job but buy a blackberry to feel more important.
