Hi,
Let me start off by saying fanboys of either product can sling their hook, this is simply a question of if Android can replace my functions/uses on iPhone. So i dont want this thread degenerating to a fanboy face off.

Anyway:
Im considering either a Desire or Nexus as my next phone. My contract is up in a month or so, and the rumored iPhone 4 specs are a little underwealming tbh. And after seeing a Desire the other day, i was very impressed by how far Android has come.

Anyway, i suppose key usages/points for me:
- Exchange support (mail, calender, contacts).
- With multiple extra IMAP accounts for my google stuff.
- Battery life compared to an iPhone 3g.
- Bluetooth that can chuck the audio and calls to my handsfree in my car.
- Stability of the OS.
- Responsiveness of the screen compared to any apple touch screen?
- Good selection of apps?
- Ability to buy apps/music/audiobooks on the move?
- What do i use to 'sync' it?
- Is the successor to the Desire/One around the corner?

If people can answer those questions, points, etc; then it'd be much appricaited, and any other thoughts too. :)

Thanks in advance all. :)

My dad had the same dilemma. He went to an O2 shop and tried them both out. He bought a Desire.

See which one you like best. Pretty much all of your questions can be answered in favor of the Desire, and there is a successor around the corner but it'l not be available in the UK.

My dilema isnt wether its 'which one out of iPhone vs Android', but more one of if the Desire can do everything i need it to, then i will be selling my existing iPhone come upgrade time and not bothering with the '4g'.

All i will say is that apps wise the Desire is lacking behind apple...so if thats your biggest concern then stick with the iphone....apps are getting better slowly but compared to the iphone...its not quite there yet.

Its not a huge concern, most apps will now be on my iPad truth be told, but im thinking alone the lines of 'mobile apps'. Like what restaurants are near, petrol stations, barcode scanners to check prices, etc;

Ahh ok well in that case you have the movies app...which is similar to the iphone flixster app i think....also theres a location app, called places which gives you all those things your looking for above and a barcode scanner is available too

Thanks. :)
Any idea about any of the other points?:)

I went from an iphone 3gs to a nexus one :)

To be honest, I'm so happy I did, the screen is the biggest step up imo. the colours/blacks are outstanding compared to the iphone, aswell as the camera step up too.

Google nav impressed me too :)
Battery is pulling about 2 days of decent useage, iphone would struggle for a day.

Connecting is easy, just plug it in and drag/drop :D

There is an official Flixster app for Android... Been out for a while...

The Desire is better than the iPhone in every single way (I have both), it's a real no brainer.

Unless you love AppleOS to death and have to have an iPhone to show it to everybody because you use it as a fashion accessory, I can't honestly see a single reason to recommend one over a Desire.

the nexus has some "spazzy" moments, but all is virtually fixed via rom's. (especially the touch buttons but with rom's with fixes in they are fine)

There is an underlying hardware fault apparently though, but in all honesty its perfectly fine imo.

any other q's just shout :D I'm still getting used to it after not having it long so :)
