Asus rampage III Extreme

simulatorman, ur saying that with the megahelm and noctua fan it will touch the first ram stick in the second slot ? cause i kind of ordered those and i cant reorder anything atm that will be sad to hear :( ill have to figure it out some how.

anyways i do have a small question, if i do not plant to OC the cpu at all and keep the 980x at 3.33 ghz, can i get the ram to run at 2000 mhz ? or because i supply more voltage to the ram in turn i must boost the voltage of the cpu ?

The fan casing will be touching the cooling fins or be extremely close giving a slightly restricted airflow. I wouldn’t worry about and see how it goes.

Yes, running X.M.P profile.

All these comments and quite a few of you already got yours, yet still only one review of this motherboard the same review that went up pretty much on the day ocuk put it on pre-order at ocuks website.

That's a good point! I was one of the only handful of people to have it at the time but I guess people are too busy playing around with it :).

Well, i only just got all the bits, and had started to build, but real life work and family mean its going to be......very Sloooooooow, got load of pics thus, will start a build log as soon as i finish messing with the R3E....hehe:D:D:D

I know what you mean. I had the bits but something always came up when I planned to start the build. When I finally came around to doing it I was so engrossed that I only managed a few pictures. I will sit down next week and put a few words and pictures together. I can't stop fiddling with it and must get down to some serious overclocking. :D

Hi

As i've bought this board and the Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler, is it recommended I put the Ram and Noctua Cooler on the board before placing the board in my case and screwing the board in place???

Thanks for responding.

It depends on your case but what I do is mount the Noctua NH-D14's backplate and mounting bracket first onto the motherboard and then install the motherboard into your case. After that, you just place the heatsink on top and screw it down.

You can install the RAM before you put the motherboard inside the case but you can do it the other way round as well, it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for responding mate.;)

I just noticed OcUK now have the Zotac GeForce GTX 480 AMP! Edition for Pre-order and i`m quite interested in this card to complete my build but as this card takes up 3 slots, if I placed this card in the very top first PCIe 2.0 x16 Slot, would I still be able to fit a PCIe sound card and a normal PCI TV card in the other slots with no problems and still have the graphics card running at full x16 speed???

My original plan was to get a EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper but unforchantly you still can`t buy one of these in the UK.

Thank you for responding.

I don't see why not. I have a GTX 480 in slot one and a sound card in the third PCIe 16x slot. So you will have one slot between the AMP and the sound card if you used that configuration. See this:

You could get away with using the last two slots.

I'd hang on a week or two. We're going to be stocking them.

Thanks so much NathWraith for letting me know about this.;) I might just hang on a couple of weeks until OcUK gets stock of the EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper card.
