Looking to get a 330ci budget is 8k, looking at whats available decent facelift models are at the top of my budget. Is it worth waiting on for the right facelift as there are plenty of pre-facelift examples around that are good.

You wont get a facelift one worth having for £8k.

And you wont save any money over your ST buying an £8k 330Ci, either.

Your best bet at this money is a decent prefacelift one but you have to ask yourself if its worth £8000 for an 8-10 year old 3 Series.

So if you already know the answer to your question what exactly are you asking, why not just go and buy that one

Loving the super shiney steering wheel on that - I stand by my opinion in the second post in this thread :)

Are you still on the original plan of selling your Focus ST for £9.5k to buy an £8k 7 year old 3 litre 3 Series to 'save some money'?

If so, give up, its a completely stupid plan. You need a cheaper car if you want to do that.

If you simply fancy a 330Ci, then lets carry on with the thread.

Nope not at all, the ST is being sold because I want something different and have always liked the look of the 3 seriers coupes.

What im looking for though is the most for my money, so a 330ci coupe with all the toys! But finding one for 8k won't be easy, as for colour, black, blue or imola red are the only colours i like, imola red is nigh on impossible to find though. Also want bluetooth and if possible the SAT/TV and sunroof so im not at all fussy!

At the moment I am finding that 330Ci's are stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of used purchases (I had a mild cabrio idea until I realised the pricing).

Even the newest ones are 4 years old and, frankly, the 06's are rare anyway so most are 5 years old or more. Yet despite this an immaculate 330Ci facelift model with all the kit and in decent condition (Most are too old to pick up a great 1 owner from new Motorway car now) is still 5 figures, which is way too much money for a car discontinued 4 years ago.

So instead we look at the pre facelift ones which are even older - 7-10 years old - yet also still command daft money. The only exception are the cheapies at the bottom end of the market for about 4-5k but these are all scabby nails.

So you are pretty much stuck paying about 7k for a really tidy facelift model. £7k is a lot of money for an 8 year old car, in my opinion. It's going to have all the annoying niggles of an.. an 8 year old car.

There just doesnt seem to be a sensible price to buy one of these at, if you see what i mean. Which is a shame, because the facelift 330Ci is still a fantastic looking car.

No point holding out for one with a TV tuner as it's anaolgue, which is slowly being switched off across the UK..

Yeah good point there actually mjt as i believe most of devon, specially torbay got switched to digital last year.

The age of a car doesnt really bother me that much, sure it will mean a great chance of something going wrong, but if its been looked after and serviced on a regular basis then it should be fine. My previous car to the ST was 5 years old and never had any problems so i don't see why a prestigous car like the BMW would have even if its a year or two older.

I'm not sure I understand why you think that the car being serviced will stop the heater blower motor failing or the radiator going or something :p None of these are checked in a service!

Its not so much that its more the whole upkeep on an older car. I keep thinking it myself, next month I need 4 tyres and an Inspection II - so not much change from a grand, which is fine, but... just gets a bit irritating to spend so much on what at the end of the day is becoming.. an old car.

I see no reason why a prefacelift 330Ci would be any different.

Or a 4 year old ST, plenty of common faults are found them, Turbo failure, Alternator going etc

All costly repairs, it just happens, some people get lucky and never have anything go wrong while they own the vehicle.

My ST's tyres were replaced when I got the car, 4,000 miles later the tread has hardly decreased at all. So its unlikely that they will need replacing within the next 12-18 months if the milage is kept low.

The only part of the facelift I prefer is the LED lights. The way the front indicators curve upwards just looks awkward to me.

I understand it being quite a lot of money for an oldish car but if its what you want then just go for it. I love mine and the only thing that I think lets it down is the fact that it's not a cabrio.

I really wouldn't worry yourself over whether or not it's a facelift. At the end of the day its still a 330ci sport and when you are driving it the newer rear lights really don't make much difference :p

Go for a well looked after pre-facelift over a cheap facelift.

The upswept lenses look better on the facelift imo, less "downs" syndrome :p

:p
